Most visitors come to the city of 1.4 million to see 1653’s testament to love, the stunning, symmetrical Taj Mahal, built by a grieving emperor for his queen. The other main tourist destinations are the sandstone Red Fort, which dates back to 1565 and contains many marvelous palaces and halls, and Fatehpur Sikri, a fort built by Mughal Emperor Akbar.
