“Pleasantly surprised!”

Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Main Line

Aug 26, 2008

After reading other reviews I was nervous, but the name your own price deal with priceline $59 made it worth chancing. We stayed 2 nights and were very happy with hotel. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. I also liked that they are trying to function more green. Easy access for many tourist areas and nice and safe location. Plenty of restaurants around to choose from. Bedding very comfortable! Only thing I could say that could use improvement is the restaurant food (at least the breakfast brunch). I would absolutely stay here again!

The hotel was great. It had free parking and free internet which was different than the other hotels in the area...this saved me about $30. Nice hotel, clean, well maintained. Rooms were great with a renovated bathroom. Bed was comfortable with the Crowne Plaza bed package. Nice fitness center and pool, great service - friendly staff. Location was key...needed to be close to downtown Philadelphia and the suburbs...was right in the middle of both. Definitely will stay there in again.

“Highly Reccomend”

This was the first time I booked a room through Priceline using the name-your-price funciton. I got the room for $58 and was ready for anything. We gave it a go since it was only for 1 night. It was great, We should have stayed longer. The rooms and hotel itself were very clean. They had some construction going on around the property but it was not intrusive at all. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and my kids loved the indoor (CLEAN) pool.

My daughter commented on how clean the room was and my 7 year old son said that the pristine white linens were "heaven". They also appreciated the decor of the room being more modern versus the floral curtains, spread, etc that they've experienced oh so many times!

We didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was clean and seemed to have quite an evening crowd. The lounge was very nice and I took full advantage of the $4.50 glasses of wine during happy hour! Ask for a styrofoam cup and you can take it to the pool. Another added bonus was the free wireless internet all through the hotel.

Fridge and microwave are available for $10 each per day. However, our room was equipped with both. We didn't need them, but if you do stay here, you should check your room first in case it's already there.

In addition to room service, right across the parking lot is TGI Fridays and Houlihans is across the street. There are also menus in your room for pizza delivery and chinese food. Target is behind the hotel if you need anything (as my kids always do).

It could only get better after the renovations are complete.

The hotel was 2 hours behind their very very late scheduled check-in time of 4pm. My wedding guests were in their lobby since 12:30 for a wedding that started at 5:30pm and at 4:30 when the shuttle began transporting guests to the reception site (a shuttle I arranged on my own since they don't provide that service), my family was still not able to get dressed and in the hotel lobby being yelled at by the staff. They were overbooked and unhelpful and incredibly slow. They had guests who were participating in a triathalon the next day put into rooms on the first floor where there was also a jazz festival taking place. The entire time the lobby was filled with guests complaining about various aspects of their stay. They only had 3 luggage carts for the entire hotel to help transport luggage to and from rooms, and they only had one working elevator. My wife and I booked a suite....only to find it wasn't going to be ready by 6pm and got put in another standard room for the same price! They wouldn't even give us the same rate our wedding guests booked at!!!! And it was their fault!!! We had a wonderful wedding, but it's now a running joke among our family and friends how terrible this hotel was - at least it was a bonding experience!

As far as the room and location goes, this is a perfectly average hotel. Our room was okay with some nice amenities including a sleep better CD, earplugs, and general tips for a restful night. The area has a number of restaurants and easy access to I-76.

Check-in and out went smoothly. We booked through a third party service. Thus began a saga that is currently two weeks into being settled. No mention was made of any problems while at the hotel. When I get my credit card statement, I see I was charged a second time for the room even though I had paid the third party directly. I was given some mumbo jumbo about not accepting the voucher from the other company. They had no interest in making it right and told me to take it up with the booking agency.

I have called them and they seem to be able to get it resolved after many phone calls and back and forths with this clueless establishment. So the moral of the story is either book with the hotel directly, or better yet stay somewhere else.
