All Staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. The cleanliness of the room was the main problem, definately needed a good hoover and both the valances were soiled yak, thankfully, nothing we actually had to sleep on or next too. On the second night of our stay the fire alarm went off at 3am and despite being allowed back inside the hotel, the staff did not/could not disarm this verbal alerting/alarm from blaring for a further hour into the rooms. The only saving grace of that issue for me is that thankfully they had a successful fire procedure in place,
None the less the positives are the hotel is in a reasonably central location, close to the main historic attractions, i.e Liberty Bell Centre, Independence Hall, also within short walking distance of Reading Terminal market, Chinatown and various shops and good sized mall. We went for a wonderful italian meal at Maggios Little Italy on Filbert Street, but the portions are huge and incredibly over facing (we were ignorant of the fact these portions are apparently mean't for sharing). Definately go to South street, for Jim's Philly Cheesesteaks - really are delicious.
Even though we never heard any building work during our stay, there is currently a large building development taking place right in front of this hotel, and it is fenced all the way up next to the convention centre, if out later at night I would strongly recommend getting a cab, unless you are part of a large group, as this stretch seems long and isolated, as is Race Street, which leads to Chinatown.
