This hotel, almost at the corner of 17th & Chestnut, is a good bargain for downtown Philadelphia, and for those who want to be in the center of things this is a great place to stay. Keep in mind though that this is not a luxury hotel. The carpet in my room was worn and stained and felt damp from all the humidity in the city. The bathroom floor was sticky. The shower floor was a little slimy. (They did come and clean the bathroom more thoroughly after I left a note at the front desk.) There was no place in the shower to put any soap or toiletries -- you had to pile everything on the floor. After a certain hour in the evening there is no one to do maintenance: so if the lightbulb in your bathroom burns out at the wrong hour, as happened to someone on my floor, tough luck. The bathroom was well equipped with a large makeup mirror and a hair dryer but it was quite small. Otherwise the room was comfortable. As long as you are aware that in some respects you are getting what you pay for, you will not be disappointed.
