With the river and bridge it's the best view in the city. Walking distance to all the historic sites made it a fantastic stay. Free breakfast was great also.
We had a room on the 5th floor. The free WIFI didn't reach and/or didn't work in our room. With so many people needing WIFI the computer in the lobby was constantly in use and you had to wait in line to use it or give up. WIFI was spotty in the lobby, too.
The shuttle service is spotty at best. We were handed a card that gave the shuttle hours and had bought advance tickets to Independence Hall based on the availability of the shuttle. We got to the lobby the next morning during shuttle hours. The employees discussed in front of us that the shuttle driver didn't show up that morning (a Saturday in the middle of tourist season - go figure) and that they didn't have a shuttle. That led to a huge cab bill going to attractions that were within the radius of the shuttle. When I asked about a credit for the taxis I was told it was a convenience, not a guaranteed amenity. Nice attitude.
I'm sorry. When your website says you have a shuttle and you give people a card with shuttle hours that is a guaranteed amenity. I find it hard to believe that no one else at that hotel was able to drive the shuttle.
We did venture out and walk a few blocks from the hotel one afternoon. Beware. We encountered some scary homeless people within a block of the hotel and some other characters I'd rather not see again. Lots of broken bottles and other trash along the way as well.
Breakfast was mostly carbs with no protein to speak of. Breakfast area not laid out in the greatest manner and the lobby was small and cramped. The lobby also houses the hotel bar in the open.
I will say that having a view of the river and the bridge is the only reason I gave this two stars instead of one. The bridge has different lights that change color at night and the sunrise (see photo) was stunning.
The Comfort Inn was not that great. The pillows were horrible, the bed was worse, the breakfast was a joke, if you could even get to it because the room is so small. Staff wasn't overly friendly. Place was clean enough, and close enough to all the stuff, we could walk everywhere (but we like to walk). I don't think that I would stay there again.
Spent one night in Philly en-route from Washington to New York and found the hotel to be a very decent hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff, who were very accommodating when arriving a few hours before check in time. The room itself was a fair size and clean. In simple terms, it was the sort of hotel room you would expect for £80 per night near a tourist area/city centre. They also offer a complimentary breakfast buffet though this was fairly 'basic'.
I had been to Philly only two times before. Once while in middle school and again to take my kids to the X games. This past weekend I stayed in town from Friday till Monday. It was the best weekend I have ever had. The locals were extremely friendly. From the parking lot attendant to the ladies at the frontdesk to bumpy the bartender. Friday I had my nails done at "Colors" near market and 2nd. sorry i don't remember exact location. Saturday, Bumpy sent me to Ralph's for dinner. It was amazing. Brian the shuttle driver was wonderful. My room had a beautiful view of the bridge and across the river I could see fireworks on friday evening. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! It is close to everything and is one of the only hotels in the area that has a free shuttle.
