I stayed at this hotel while attending a convention at the Philadelphia Convention Centre. I have the same opinion as most of the other reviewers who posted here, i.e. the hotel is in a good location and the rooms are nice, but the "common areas" of the hotel are a little tired and in need of a refurb. I didn't have many dealings with the hotel staff, but found them to be very nice when I did. I made use of the hotel gym and pool during my stay. The pool was small but OK for a quick dip. The gym was quite well-equipped with cardio equipment and was never terribly busy in the early mornings when I was there. My room was cleaned and maintained very well during my stay, although I was kind of annoyed that housekeeping insisted on giving me fresh towels everyday, even when I had hung them up (a card on the nightstand told me that this would indicate that I would re-use my towels)! The free bottled water and starbucks coffee machine in the room were a bonus.

Location wise, it couldn't be better, and is a very short walk from the hip restaurants and bars of the Old City, the Independence National Park, and the subway blue line, which you can use to travel downtown to the Convention Centre, shopping etc.

My only gripe is the $10 a day charge for in-room internet (which I didn't pay!). I used the free PCs in the lobby instead, and was occasionally able to pick up the local 'Philadelphia wireless' signal in my room. As a business traveller, I would have appreciated complimentary internet in my room.

The hotel is in a good location, and the room was well laid out with HD flat screen (great for Olympics viewing!). Piity they don;t have refrigerators in the room - many US hotels seem now to catch-up with the rest of the world on this one!
Lobby and coffe shop areas are 'tired'. Staff generally ok but not exceptionally attentive.
Amazingly they were unable to print my bill on check-out and after 40mins they gave up and had to email it to me! (not a wonderful check-out experience).
Ok value for money - not great value for money!

Our compliments to whomever hires the staff! Everyone of them that we encountered (from the bus boy to valet parking, check-in, etc.) could not be more efficient, helpful, pleasant and articulate. It has been a while since we experienced total customer service.

We stayed in Rm. 2076 which I recommend as a quiet, very clean and updated room. We were allowed to use the Club Room on the 4th Floor which provided continental breakfast in the morning and hor dorves in the evening. There is also a pool on the 4th Floor and a gym in the hotel which we did not have time to use.

The location is perfect for touring the historic district and accessibility to just about anywhere in Phily. The hotel setting seems to be in it's own separate corner right next to everything but yet again private in its own very pleasant niche. Based on our experience, I highly recommend the Sheraton Society Hill.

First off I'd like to inform people staying here, you have to pay for parking, $34.00 a night. They do not tell you that when you book the room. We were part of a wedding party so we paid $160 a night, but when you add on that parking fee, it's not a good price for what we got.

The room we stayed in was very small, w/ two double beds. Not much room to walk around, no where to put luggage. The air conditioner was broken and would not go below 74 degrees. When it was running it was extremely loud. The maintenance man came a day after we first called and attempted to fix it, but with no success. We called the front desk and they could not move us until the following day.

One good thing was the staff was really nice and helps us as much as they could.

Overall, I really liked this hotel. the staff were friendly and knowledge. The workout facility was decently equipped with stairsteppers, treadmills and even some weight machines. The dumbell free weights were lacking but I was still surprised they had any at all.

The club floor rooms were nice. The shower drained well and had good water pressure. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. However, like another reviewer noted, the A/C kicked in loudly. It sounded a lot like my home alarm clock and I woke up in a panic, thinking my alarm had sounded only to find that it was the middle of the night. This did not bother me the second night of my stay.

A great location allowed walking to one business appointment and to a nearby subway stop to ride to another. This hotel sits on the edge of the historic district so you can be at Independence Hall after a brief stroll or, if you go the other direction, at the waterfront and Penn's Landing. South Street isn't far, either.

I walked to breakfast and dinner. I had to go somewhere else for meals because the hotel restaurant wanted $15 for just a sandwich. A drink at the bar? $10 for bourbon on the rocks before tip. Couple that with a price tag of more than $200/room on the Club floor AND you still had to pay 9.95 a day for internet and you're talking a location-based gouging that would make even a realtor blush.

Would I stay here again? For business, where the company picks up the tab, yes. If I travel with my family the cost would be too great and I would find a cheaper alternative.
