Overall, I really liked this hotel. the staff were friendly and knowledge. The workout facility was decently equipped with stairsteppers, treadmills and even some weight machines. The dumbell free weights were lacking but I was still surprised they had any at all.

The club floor rooms were nice. The shower drained well and had good water pressure. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. However, like another reviewer noted, the A/C kicked in loudly. It sounded a lot like my home alarm clock and I woke up in a panic, thinking my alarm had sounded only to find that it was the middle of the night. This did not bother me the second night of my stay.

A great location allowed walking to one business appointment and to a nearby subway stop to ride to another. This hotel sits on the edge of the historic district so you can be at Independence Hall after a brief stroll or, if you go the other direction, at the waterfront and Penn's Landing. South Street isn't far, either.

I walked to breakfast and dinner. I had to go somewhere else for meals because the hotel restaurant wanted $15 for just a sandwich. A drink at the bar? $10 for bourbon on the rocks before tip. Couple that with a price tag of more than $200/room on the Club floor AND you still had to pay 9.95 a day for internet and you're talking a location-based gouging that would make even a realtor blush.

Would I stay here again? For business, where the company picks up the tab, yes. If I travel with my family the cost would be too great and I would find a cheaper alternative.

The convinience and beauty of the location of this hotel cannot be overstated and the value is exceptional.
The crowning event of our first visit to Philadelphia was finding this hotel, more out of necessity (other more expensive hotels nearby Independence Mall were booked) than any other reason.
Walking on a Saturday evening around Society Hill and finding our way onto South Street for a dining experience was the highlight of our stay. In a couple of minutes in the opposite direction we found ourselves at Independence Hall and the other historical sites.
Rooms were clean (no hair dryer?!?), comfortable. As noted previously the elevator seems to have been used for freight more than guests but it hardly is a reason to not consider this THE hotel to book when visiting the sites, Society Hill, South Street.
We are certain to return to Philadelphia and though we will take excursions in other parts of town, the caring staff, location, value of this hotel will keep us coming back to it.

This hotel has a great location in old town Philadelphia, within walking distance of many of the great sights. Staff is very friendly.

We paid rather top dollar for this type of hotel ($279) as there were a lot of conventions and groups in town.

This hotel is an embassy suites style hotel with an atrium and rooms opening to that and down adjacent corridors. The room was standard, nothing bad or exceptional.

But, as previous reviewers noted, it is noisy! The air conditioning unit for the room is in the room, and when it clicks on (every 10 minutes or so) it makes a very loud noise, and stays noisy. I would awaken and watch my kids jump in their sleep every time it went on and off. I would not recommend this hotel at all for light sleepers. We were all somewhat exhausted after 3 nights here.

Pool was crowded, cloudy and I did not get in. Just didn't look appealing.

One evening there was a wedding downstairs, and after it was over the drunken guests ran up and down the halls to each others rooms screaming and laughing at 3 in the morning. Wheeee!

Also, the breakfast buffet, at $18, is not very good. Rubbery eggs, not much selection. I would order a la carte.

Would I stay here again? No, it just was overpriced for what it offers. I would bump up a few dollars to the Omni next time, it has even a greater location and looks very nice.

What a great find in the heart of Philadelphia.

We were traveling to Philadelphia for a Pearl Jam concert at the outdoor venue in Camden. We couldn't have pick a better location. The ferry which runs right to the venue is 2 blocks from the hotel.

In addition we were traveling with our 12 year old Yellow Lab, two young sons, and my mother in law.

We booked two joining rooms, each with a king. The rooms are on the small side but for a one night stay they work.

Positives:
-They take pets at NO CHARGE. In addition big dogs are welcome too! For the life of me i can't figure out why hotels discriminate large dogs. Many take dogs up to 25 pounds, which is strange because the small dogs are the barkers.
-Pool for the kids.
-Great location for seeing historic Philadelphia. Independence center is about a 10 minute walk.

We arrived 30 minutes before check in time hoping to drop our bags, see some sights, and grab a bite to eat. It was a nightmare. We didn't get into our room until 1.5 hours past check in. With 2 tired ones it was a horrible experience.

My wife kept the pressure on the front desk. She was able to get 2 free cocktails and breakfast for all 5 of us.

So, if you need a place for your pet and want to be in the heart of Historic Philadelphia you can't go wrong here.
