I would definitely recommend the Mahana to family and friends! This was an amazing trip! We were on our 2nd honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We stayed on Oahu for the first 5 days and then came to Maui. We wished we would have booked the whole 10 days on Maui at the Mahana! It seemed very private. The pool was never very busy and the beach in front of the hotel never seemed to have very many people on it. The view from the balcony was incredible. The sunsets were beautiful and we even saw a rainbow once.
We slept with the patio door opened every night listening to the ocean. We will be back for sure!! Thanks Mahana for a much better 2nd honeymoon!

I just returned from my trip to Maui during which time I stayed at the ResortQuest Mahana. I have to say that I typically don't write reviews, but I use them to make my decision. I was so impressed with this hotel I had to share my thoughts. I booked 2 rooms through Travelocity so I wasn't sure which room I was going to be getting, but I had contact the staff prior to arriving and requested 2 rooms on an upper floor near one another. We were assigned room 902 and 903. Room 902 was modern with a king size bed and the view was spectacular. Room 903 was fine but it had a smaller bed and wasn't updated so the staff offered us room 605 which was excellent (although considered a studio because only 1 bed it had 2 bathrooms a living room, dining room, and a sizable kitchen-902 had a full kitchen but small).

We stocked our fridge at Star Market (just outside the large parking area) and had breakfast daily in the room. The kitchen had everything but the food itself (coffee maker, coffee, pots, pans, plates, dishes, silverware,...). I travel often and had always heard about the outrageous prices in Hawaii so I packed a small suitcase full of food also (pancake mix, cereal, snacks, ....). The prices weren't outrageous except the dairy items seemed to be significantly higher.

We had pre booked our luau, The Feast at Lele and I would recommend it to anyone. It was $110/person plus tip but each group had a private table and the food and entertainment were excellent. There was 1 vegetarian in our group and they were extremely accommodating. We booked most other activities through the Expedia tour desk in the hotel. We opted for a 45 minute helicopter ride over Molokai, kayaking and snorkeling with South Pacific Kayaking, zip lining with EcoTours (booked separate), and I can't remember the name of the surfing company (booked separate). I wasn't impressed with the Expedia rep at all. She told us zip lining was fully booked (1 location was but when I called on my own they had openings at the one at the base of the volcano) and tried to talk us into biking down the side of the volcano. I told her I wasn't a great biker and she said it would be fine but when we went to the volcano to watch the sunrise and saw the bikers coming down the mountain on the same road with us on tight curves some of which had no guard rails and steep drops I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wasn't a serious biker. We combined the sunrise with the zip lining (we went down the mountain and had breakfast at a cafe in between). After the helicopter ride we had lunch at Milagros in a town called Paia. It was great so we went again after zip lining.

The hotel was great about letting us take towels to the beach, and their pool area was very nice. They don't have a ton of amenities but with the kitchen I wasn't bothered. When I return to Maui I will without a doubt return to this hotel. Since we rented a car we just zipped off to wherever whenever, the location is very convenient. The only travelers that I wouldn't recommend this hotel to would be people looking for serious nightlife.

In addition, I wish somebody would have told me to bring a hat, scarf, and gloves to the volcano. We took the extra blanket out of the closet it just wasn't enough to keep us warm. With the wind chill up there it was too cold for me!

I will be recommending this hotel to anyone and everyone taking a trip to Maui!

My wife and I stayed here in March 2008 and we could NOT BE HAPPIER that we did. What an awesome location, with direct ocean front rooms The sunsets were amazing! We had a great room, with everything we needed. Fronts desk and staff went out of their way to make us feel extra comfortable.

We'll come to Maui just to stay here again.

We stayed at Mahana for a week for our honeymoon May 18th, 2008. It was the best decision we made. We rented out condo from the owner directly through VRBO.com. This way we knew exactly what condo we were getting before we got there. The condo was amazing. Our condo was on the first floor which we didn't mind a bit. We were on the end of the first building though, so there wasn't much foot traffic in front of it. Literally steps from the beach though. Amazing views. No other place in Maui is this close to the beach.

The beach right in front of the condo wasn't too good for swimming; it's a pretty short steep beach. But walk left or right 100 feet and it's some of the best beach on Maui. Not crowded at all, because it's not right next to any resorts. To the left is a half mile of awesome beach with no one on it. The best snorkeling was just to the left of the condo between Mahana and Black rock. If you’re worried about the beach in front of the hotel, DON'T BE! We were a little, but were extremely happy with the location and the beach on either side of the condo.

The pool was just totally redone and is awesome. Not huge, but you've got the beach right there. They've got grill to barbeque if you wish. The internet worked good in the lobby, but was really slow in the condo.

We went on the Four winds snorkel cruise to molokini. It was fun, but we wouldn't go again. The smaller the boat the better. There were about 60 people on ours, which wasn't bad, but there were soooo many people at molokini that you kept bumping in to people. All the snorkel cruises get there at the same time. So if you can find a smaller cruise it'd probably be better. The best snorkeling was right by the condo and North on 30 up by Honolua Bay.

We did Haleakala and it was amazing. It was clear on top and awesome. We did the road to Hana after that which was exciting, but we only made it to mile 22 before we turned back. We didn't want to drive back in the dark. So if you go you might want to go early and spend a whole day doing it.

We also drove the northwest side of the island up 30 which turns into 340 (kahekili hwy) Some awesome beaches and a blow hole. Definitely hike down to the blow hole, bring some sturdy shoes though. One the road turned to a one lane ATV trail; we turned back after stopping at the smoothie bus for a snack.

We liked Leilani's and Hula grill in Whaler's village. Swan Court at the Hyatt was awesome. Sansei for sushi....defiantly go here. It's up by the Ritz Carlton now, but the front desk will give you directions. The gazebo was the best breakfast on Maui. Try the banana pancakes and the omelets were awesome. It's worth the 20 min wait if there is one. Just turn left out of the condo, about 10 minutes on the left in the napili shores condos. We ate breakfast at the plantation house, it was awesome. We didn't care for the Lahaina fish company though.

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau, it was recommended and we thought it was awesome.

There's a grocery store right a crossed from the condo and a Maui dive shop to rent snorkel gear from.

We also took a helicopter ride from Alex Air. We signed up for the east side tour and ended up getting upgraded to a whole island tour for free. It's expensive, but if your gonna take a helicopter tour; this is the place to do it.

Overall, we loved Mahana, can't wait to go back. We had no problems there at all. Great place for a honeymoon or a vacation, with or without family. There was a washer and dry in the condo and beach towels, so we didn't have to bring any.
