This was our third time at the Plaza in the last three years. Check in was very smooth and we were given a partial ocean view. The room was clean, the bedding and bathroom were fine. We ordered a rollaway bed and it was delivered immediately. The service and quality of the restaurants were very good. We did feel that the price of the hotel for a Saturday night of $350 was not fair. At that price our expectation is the Four Seasons or the Ritz Carlton, the Trump Plaza is NOT a five star hotel but a solid 3.5. I agree with other posters that the noise from the beach bar is very annoying until 12 midnight. Otherwise, our stay was fine, but a bit overpriced. Note that if you are staying Sunday thru Thursday that you can get a rate of between $99 and $150 which is much closer to what the value of the hotel really is. We prefer the Sheraton, but we wanted to be on the Boardwalk.

Paid $99 for 1 night Deluxe room w/AAA discount in the East Tower. We were upgraded to a beach front room. The room was very nice. Had a king size bed. Was just a little scuffed up from suitcases bumping the wall. Most hotels experience this. Bathroom was large. Shower didn't have too much water pressure. Bed was really comfy but the pillows were feather pillows that squashed flat. My husband and I would stay here again. The beach bar was fun. A band was playing on Tuesday night. We went out for drinks. There wasn't a cover charge. We went out to the beach bar again on Wed. for lunch. We ate dinner at P.F.Chang's at Tropicana on Tue night. Prices are really reasonable there compared to other restaurants in A.C.

“Lobby looks are DECIEVING!”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

For the price for one night, you would have thought that the room would be magnificant! My sister and I flew from TX to visit our mom and splurged to stay ione night n this hotel. We had to change rooms two times due to the view (the reservations assured ocean front view), and the rooms were filthy. Not just a little dirty, but gross. Hair on floor, stains on the walls, dust, musty smells, and mildew in tubs. The 3rd room's toilet took 3 flushes to get anything down it. There was basically no hot water either.

The lobby looks grand. But wait until you get to the room. Heck, the average hotel here in TX beats this one hands down.

“Hotel Review”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

This review is of the hotel and NOT the casino of TRUMP PLAZA:We stayed midweek night at Trump Plaza with family. Our extended family consisted of 5 members. 2 are adults and Trump One Members and had a complimentary room. I stayed in a double room with 2 young kids under 10 and paid the advertised rate. This was my first time staying at an Atlantic City hotel.

I do realize Trump Plaza is a casino hotel and probably not the best hotel for children and considered the Sheraton but the reason why I chose Trump Plaza was to stay in a hotel with other members of my family, and the fact that the beach/boardwalk are right outside (Sheraton is a couple of blocks away in town.) Thankfully, I saw other families with young children at the hotel when we got there so I did feel at ease.

We also considered Borgata which is not so centrally located and Caesar's (next to Trump so centrally located and on beach/boardwalk) which was booked.

Check-in was at 4 pm. We arrived at 2 pm. Our room wasn't ready but check-in was fine. I reserved a non-smoking room with double beds and a beach view and requested a cot immediately at check-in. We took the kids to the beach and boardwalk. I picked up my card keys a little after 4pm and went upstairs to our room on the 7th floor in the East Tower. Room (bathroom especially) was shabby with stained carpeting and overlooked the roof of the Rainforest Cafe which is in Trump Plaza on boardwalk. Horrible view of air handlers and ventilation on the roof but it was a beach view. The shower had very low water pressure, and the A/C didn't do a very good job of cooling down the room and reducing humidity much. Light sleepers w/kids avoid this floor. Rainforest Cafe and bands at bar on the beach are VERY LOUD until midnight. Also I immediately noticed that the mini fridge was sitting next to the armoire which I thought was a strange location but not a problem. The cot wasn't brought up yet. I called Housekeeping 3 or 4 times and it was finally brought up at around 9 pm. When it was being set up, the guy knocked down one (very easily) of the heavy headboards which is not part of the bed but decoratively help up on the wall. He didn't make much of an effort to put it back up and left without calling Maintenance. When I opened the armoire to let the kids watch TV one of the doors was dangerously unhinged at the bottom. I did not call front desk since kiddies were all dressed and in bed and couldn't really move them after FINALLY getting a cot for the younger one. We checked out 2 hours earlier than our check-out time (12 pm). I informed check-out about all the problems and talked to the manager who after the obligatory "did you call front desk?" was very understanding and excellent at customer service.

PROS:
Central location right on the beach/boardwalk
Comfy beds
Good Restaurants
Courteous Staff/employees: Most of the staff and employees especially security, waiters, waitresses were courteous and made us (family with kids) feel welcome.

CONS:
Rooms need updating (and a safety check!)
Shabby bathrooms with mildewy/moldy tubs and very low shower pressure. Fixtures and hardware needs updating.
Air-conditioning didn't do a good job of keeping room very cool
Rooms could use more soundproofing

OVERALL:
I could hardly express my anger and how I really felt at check-out time to the manager who did an excellent job at customer service. So here's how I really feel about the hotel. Although my money wasn't spent at the casino like some of the other guests, I did pay the regular rate and had our meals at the restaurants at Trump Plaza as well as spending money on the hotel's vending machines. I expected our hotel room to be on par with other hotels of its class and was sadly disappointed. Trump Plaza Hotel is in need of an update. All the fixtures and fixed parts of furniture should be made safe and secure in my room for my stay. i.e. doors should be hinged or checked to make sure that they are, head boards mounted securely on the wall. It isn't a "complaint" like a clogged toilet, lack of towels or noise that I should have to make to front desk. It is Trump Plaza's job as a responsible hotelier to make sure my room is safe/secure as well as prepared for my arrival. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning.

My husband and I wanted to have a night away and decided to go to Atlantic City. We've been there before and have stayed at every type of hotel in AC; the borgata, super 8, claridge, flagship, etc. So we basically knew what to expect, or so we thought when we booked the trump plaza. This is not a 5 star resort. I read the reviews and still decided to book it becuase it was a decent price. please consider paying close attention to the reviews on this site.

The good: We ordered room service at 2am and the food was delicious and came quickly. Parking was only $5. Great location on the boardwalk.

The bad: AC in room did not work. No hot water in shower and the shower head pressure would blast a single stream of the icy cold water onto you. Towels smelled funny--musty. Fridge in room did not work at all. The view was just facing another side of the building which had a huge trump advertisement for its lame beach bar. Also, navigating the hotel/casino was terrible. At the time of check in it seemed that they didnt have us booked at all even though I showed them my reservation slip.

All in all, it would have been better to go back to the borgata..you pay for what you get. I would have complained to the hotel but I just wanted to get the heck out of there and didnt feel like dealing with the front desk again.
