First off let me start by saying that I have been going to Atlantic City for many years and have stayed practically everywhere around the city. What I experienced at Atlantic Palace was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. ANYWHERE. PERIOD.
First of all, we had a long, grueling check-in process where we were forced to carry all of our stuff from the parking garage because the bellmen would not let us use one of the carts. (they had to load the carts themselves so that they could get their tip) Then, we had to wait for about 10 minutes before an elevator made it to the first floor since the elevators in the hotel have not been updated since the building was built back in 1940. We finally walk into the room and there is cigarette ash over the tables and counters. And this was a non-smoking room. A few other friends joined us in the room before going out to Harrah's to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. Throughout the night a few people left and went back to the room. Around 3am me, my wife and my friend walk into the hotel and are asked by security what our Room # is. So, I give it to the guard and he tells me that there are already 3 people in the room, and that only 2 of us are allowed up because there is a limit of 5 people in the room. Never were we told about this limit! I politely ask the guard if we can just go up because we are all very tired and just wanted to sleep. He would not let us up. After about 5 minutes of trying to reason with the guy, he begins to yell at me. I am a guest at this hotel and paid over $600 for the room, and he starts to yell at me like I am a piece of trash! Then, the other lady guard comes over and starts yelling at me too. Both basically say that 1 of us has to go sleep in the car because they won't allow more than 5 in the room. Being a good friend, there was no way that I was going to make my friend sleep in the car while me and my wife go up and sleep in the room. So, we had to make a 2 1/2 hour drive home from 5 - 7:30am after a long night of partying because of this security guard. I even asked for his name before leaving and he covered his badge and said "No, I won't give it to you".
Do yourself a favor and never stay at this hotel!
