This may have been a nice hotel before Harrah's....I don't know

Booked a premium room in the Bourbon Tower (paid more.) Given a room in the Orleans tower instead.

First, it is important to note...They call the Orleans Tower "The New Tower" That is FALSE advertising. The Bourbon Tower is the one that has been completly updated and has better views of the Ocean.

Secondly, don't believe because you book, and pay MORE for a premium tower room that you will get one... you most likely will NOT!!!

I would certainly question the legality of this practice!!

The Orlean's Tower room was clean, but very loud. We were 10 doors down from the elevator, but could still hear it all night, as well as the voices of many guests surrounding us and their toilets. I have never hear a toilet flush so loudly!

When we found out we were not getting the room we paid for, I requested an ocean view. We were given one. Be aware. The two views available in the Orlean's Tower are a construction view with a little bit of Ocean, and a parking garage view. So if you are scammed into staying at the showboat and given a room in this tower be prepared.

Secondly...my experience at the house of blues restaurant was less than satisfactory. We were promptly seated, but waited 15 minutes for someone to acknowlege us. The waitress and the hostess told us they would be with us in just a second, well 15 minutes later, we walked out, having never even been asked our drink order. This situation was the same for several other guests seated around us. 30 minutes total wasted in the HOB restaurant. On a side note...Plate at the Trump Taj Mahal (where we ended up) was simply wonderful service and food.

Lastly...The total rewards shuttle was our final poor experience. We had a gold total rewards card (since this was our first time at a harrah's hotel), and our room key for the showboat, and attempted to board the bus. Apparently our room key was insufficient as we were told we needed our registration slip? This is just poor customer service. We were hotel guests who wanted to gamble at another Harrah's hotel and were denied easy transportation to that hotel.

I don't know if all of this is standard practice for the Harrah's organization, but it is not standard practice at any other hotel/gaming organization I have ever been to.
It is a shame that such a large organization cares nothing about customer service.

I have stayed at Trump all my other times to Atlantic City and have never had a problem.

STAY AWAY from the showboat. It's not worth the aggravation! Even if you think they won't SCAM you. Do you really want to have to FIGHT for the room you PAID for? Stay somewhere else.

If you're looking for a nice upscale hotel, this is definately not it. Add the fact that it is fairly expensive, and I would say with certainty that I will not go back. It reminded me (in a bad way) of the Flamingo in Las Vegas. As one review alluded to below, there is a large space a the bottom of the room door which allows in lots of sound and takes away from any feeling of privacy. Not one, of the ten people I asked, knew where the fitness center was located. The windows don't open, the decor looks dated and there was an overall lack of good service. Also, there should be security on the boardwalk at night. Aside from the obvious problems of the hotel (they messed up the room service order both times, the elevator doors weren't working properly, we waited a long time just to check in, etc.) the fire alarms went off falsely twice. When this happens, it seems that a loud speaker is broadcast through the smoke detector announcing that they were false alarms. The problem is that it happened twice, and it really takes away from any feeling of privacy when a loud speaker is broadcast from within your hotel room, as noble as the attempt may be. All in all, I was sadly disappointed.

“Fair value, Some Restroom noise transfers from floor to floor!”

Showboat Casino Hotel

We stayed in the new tower (Orleans)
Nice room. Nice marble finish and comfy bed.
Heating/cooling system quiet, consistent and effective.

I woke up one night when I could hear people talking and discovered it was coming from the air return vent on the restroom wall. I had noticed previously that the "rapid flush" toilets are very loud and can be heard easily from floor to floor and room to room. Apart from that, adjacent room noise very minimal.

Casino floor is nice.
The beach at this end of the boardwalk is small. I mean it's narrow, especially at high tide. Because of this, very small numbers of people make the beach feel crowded (or intimate?). Kids crying here = loud noise with no escape other than departure.

The beach at Caesar's and south are much wider and have umbrellas and chairs for rent if desired. None at Showboat beach.

I found Showboat a bit far from the "heart" of the action. We seemed to be walking to other Casino's, restaurants, Steel pier, etc... a lot and it was fairly far too.

Always seemed to be big lines to eat in the limited venues at Showboat. Buffet was closed Wednesday and Thursday (I think it was those two days, definitely two days...check first). We found that odd.

All things being equal I'd probably book at Caesar's or Bally's next time.

We had a very nice stay at the Showboat. Our room was clean and comfortable. The food at the French Quarter buffet was very good and there was a good variety, also a small cajun selection which was pretty good. I would definitely consider staying here again.

I had a comped room for two nights. The room was decent (838 in Orleans Tower) but housekeeping forgot to take out trash after making up room. The TV was old with shadows. The bathroom was marble and pretty large .I had a view of ocean and construction site, no hotels fault. The room was at end of along hall but quiet. The casino is large and the poker room was moved to first floor next to Boardwalk. The buffet was extremely lacking with mediocre food and a unappealing price of $22.00. There was tax on room but for comped room I would return in a heart beat.
