This may have been a nice hotel before Harrah's....I don't know
Booked a premium room in the Bourbon Tower (paid more.) Given a room in the Orleans tower instead.
First, it is important to note...They call the Orleans Tower "The New Tower" That is FALSE advertising. The Bourbon Tower is the one that has been completly updated and has better views of the Ocean.
Secondly, don't believe because you book, and pay MORE for a premium tower room that you will get one... you most likely will NOT!!!
I would certainly question the legality of this practice!!
The Orlean's Tower room was clean, but very loud. We were 10 doors down from the elevator, but could still hear it all night, as well as the voices of many guests surrounding us and their toilets. I have never hear a toilet flush so loudly!
When we found out we were not getting the room we paid for, I requested an ocean view. We were given one. Be aware. The two views available in the Orlean's Tower are a construction view with a little bit of Ocean, and a parking garage view. So if you are scammed into staying at the showboat and given a room in this tower be prepared.
Secondly...my experience at the house of blues restaurant was less than satisfactory. We were promptly seated, but waited 15 minutes for someone to acknowlege us. The waitress and the hostess told us they would be with us in just a second, well 15 minutes later, we walked out, having never even been asked our drink order. This situation was the same for several other guests seated around us. 30 minutes total wasted in the HOB restaurant. On a side note...Plate at the Trump Taj Mahal (where we ended up) was simply wonderful service and food.
Lastly...The total rewards shuttle was our final poor experience. We had a gold total rewards card (since this was our first time at a harrah's hotel), and our room key for the showboat, and attempted to board the bus. Apparently our room key was insufficient as we were told we needed our registration slip? This is just poor customer service. We were hotel guests who wanted to gamble at another Harrah's hotel and were denied easy transportation to that hotel.
I don't know if all of this is standard practice for the Harrah's organization, but it is not standard practice at any other hotel/gaming organization I have ever been to.
It is a shame that such a large organization cares nothing about customer service.
I have stayed at Trump all my other times to Atlantic City and have never had a problem.
STAY AWAY from the showboat. It's not worth the aggravation! Even if you think they won't SCAM you. Do you really want to have to FIGHT for the room you PAID for? Stay somewhere else.
