We paid cash for our room, so this is not a "comped room" experience. We could not even get a Total Rewards rate, because when I called to book, they could not find my account. However, when I went to apply for a new card, they told me I already had one. When we checked into this hotel, we were not told which tower we were in. We were given a room number and told we would have an ocean view. We had trouble even finding the right elevator to get to our room (not given directions), and found that we were in Claridge's. The room didn't look too bad, a little cramped, tiny bathroom, but it did have that ocean view, so we decided to keep it.
The worst problem with this room was that it was a connecting room. From reading other reviews, it looks like this was half a suite. The connecting doors had light coming in under them from the next room, which meant that noise between the rooms also carried. We were treated to a very intimate, screamed conversation from the room next door. I was alone with my husband, and still so embarrassed I turned on the TV to drown out the noise. It sounded like they were in the same room with us.
Later that evening, (or I should say early the next morning), we were awakened by a group of drunken men. Again, it sounded like they were right in bed with us, and they made threatening statements about anyone calling security. Very intimidating. Needless to say we got very little sleep.
The good news about the pool in Claridge's is that there is no charge to use it (despite what it says on the Bally's website). The bad news is there is no hot tub/jacuzzi available (despite what it says on the website). We ate at Pickle's Deli in Bally's, and the food was just average, while the prices were high. We ended up eating the rest of our meals along the Boardwalk, where the food was junky, but at least the prices were lower.
Although I ended up winning a little money at the slot machines, overall I was very disappointed in Atlantic City. It was cheesier than Vegas or Reno, and while on the beach we were eaten alive by biting flies. I would not return even if given a free trip.
If you go, I hope you have a better time than we did. And good luck with the slot machines (or whatever your game of chance).
