If you read JM Scotland's review, I met him while I was there. Leonardo and company do a great job of providing information.

The room was fine, and I would agree that a room in the back was probably a better choice regarding noise. Also, we had a great view of the Duomo, as it is lit up at nite. If booking at this hotel, and you are going to be walking a lot during the day, I highly recommend choosing a room that has a jacuzzi tub. I used it every nite, and it made all the difference getting me ready for the next walking day!

There are a couple of restaurants right on via Nazionale (same side of the street) that we sampled, along with a Chinese Restaurant. Nothing like Chinese who speak fluent Italian. Prices were all reasonable.

The hotel is also close to the San Lorenzo market where you can buy all sorts of "stuff." Be prepared to bargain. I'm glad I had my wife with me, as i let her take the lead. By the time she was finished with the vendors, they gave her what she wanted just to get rid of her!

Something interesting to do...i went to the Duomo for an 8:30 AM mass.It was about 25 minutes in length. I am NOT Catholic, but wanted the experience. The sound of 13 priests speaking/chanting in Italian resonated throughout the entire Cathedral. That was a memory in itself!

On arrival you get the impression that it is not going to be a particularly good hotel, as the street is very busy, the pavement is narrow and the actual way in to the hotel is not very attractive.
On entering the hotel, however, the situation improves and you will find that the rooms themselves are actually in very good condition with well equipped bathrooms.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good, served in a bright, attractive first floor room.
Rooms at the back are definitely better than the front. We had a view of the Duomo and no noise problems at all.
The "little bar" down the road is great. Lots of free nibbles with your drinks and we found a very good restaurant nearby.
Very handy for the markets and a short walk to the main tourist areas.
We would consider using it again if we were looking for something in the 3* bracket.

“Very good value hotel”

This hotel was a great choice. It has very good facilities at a reasonable price; a hearty breakfast; friendly staff and an ideal location - generally quiet. Only a short walk from the railway station (but recommend a short bus ride to the door as the pavements are very narrow and pitted when pulling a case). Ask for a room overlooking the garden. The large front rooms have a good view of the lovely square but you have to be used to some traffic noise. It is situated within walking distance of all the main attractions. It does not have a restaurant. If you wish to avoid some of the tourist traps, eat at a friendly little restaurant two blocks away from the hotel in 33A Via San Zanobi. The Trattoria San Zanobi is family run, very good value and attentive service. The Italiens were eating there - a good sign! We went back there a few times.

“Excellent location to discover Florence”

Great little hotel not very far from train station. Comfortable room, though shower was a bit small. Excellent location for walking around exploring. Very helpful staff, particularly when trying to get museum reservations. Would suggest getting a room at the back of the hotel; ours was at the front and had some traffic noise at night, but not too bad. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was at least ten minutes walk from the train station. The room I had was large and facing the backyard, so it was really quiet. Bathroom was large and clean also. Breakfast was just average. Staff was very helpful. All the major attractions were within walking distance. There was a self-service Laundromat on the same street next block. Very convenience when you were on a long trip.
