My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in Hotel Centrale in June. We drove into Florence with our hire car and had a bit of trouble finding the hotel initially, when we did find it everything was perfect from there.
The hotel reception rang a car park they use, and a driver came to take our car to the parking building while my wife and I went to check in with our luggage. The hotel is situated on the first floor of a main building, and the entrance is impressive with large wooden doors leading into the building foyer.
Check in was a breeze and the double room that we were shown to was the best appointed we had found in Italy with some old furnishings that matched the feel of Florence perfectly. Our room also looked out to the several hundred year old Medicee Chapel dome, absolutely beautiful.
The room was quite spacious and the bathroom was a reasonable size and very clean. The room contained an air conditioner, bar fridge and safe which made it more comfortable. Just be aware that the hotel itself does not have a lift so if you are on the second floor you'll need to take the stairs.
The location of the hotel is just perfect, with a two minute walk to the majestic Duomo and its bell tower, and less than ten minutes to the museum that houses the statue of David.
The hotel staff were also very lovely and friendly, especially the lady serving breakfast, and while breakfast did not contain the biggest range it was still very good. My tip is to try the hot chocolate for breakfast, superb.
