Casa Viento lacks a few common resort ingredients; cable TV, crowds, cheesy entertainment, mediocre restaurants, wastefulness… which is why we loved it! It’s intimate, comfortable, and just a bit off the beaten path. We only regret not having more time to stay.

Part of the attraction here is the face of Casa Viento. The proprietors, Nicole and Raul, are immensely hospitable people and eager to accommodate. Although our stay was brief, I’ve never felt so instantly “on vacation” as I did here. From the moment we arrived and even after our checkout, both were helpful and made every detail unbelievably easy. The hotel pets, Diva and Tiki, somehow maintain the same relaxed quality. We felt like good friends in for a visit.

As in past reviews, this may not be for you if you seek the convenience and incessant entertainment options of an all-inclusive or large-scale hotel. With its simple charm and places to stroll (adjacent sandy beach and golf course), this is a little gem for relaxation and respite.

Between some of the most spectacular scuba dives we have ever made, my wife and I had the true pleasure of staying at Casa Viento on Cozumel where we celebrated our first anniversary. We are now looking for a new bed, because we have never slept as well as we did for the last week.

We arrived at the island on the tail of Hurricane Ike, and the first few hours were very windy and very wet. Nicole greeted us and helped us carry our luggage up to the third-floor honeymoon suite. After showing us our room, Nicole explained that she had also prepared one of the vacant suites on the ground floor for us, just in case the wind became too noisy for us to sleep on the third floor, which it never did. We waited out the weather by taking a nice, relaxing nap.

We awoke ready for dinner, so we consulted the binder prepared by Nic and Raul. They have a very nicely organized list of recommendations for everything from restaurants and grocery stores to car rentals, beaches and entertainment. (Every one of their recommendations was right on, by the way.)

While Casa Viento is technically a hotel, we sure didn't feel like we were staying at one. It was more like staying with friends or family at their home. We were often visited by Diva, their very friendly Cocker Spaniel, and greeted by the whistles of Tiki, their pet parrot.

We like staying in places that are away from the crowds, and we're very happy we chose to stay at Casa Viento rather than one of the big resorts. We cannot overstate the friendliness and welcoming hospitality of Nic and Raul, who often invited us into their home to share our day's experiences, look at photos, talk about kiteboarding, or borrow a DVD.

It is difficult to imagine returning to Cozumel and staying anywhere other than Casa Viento. We highly recommend it, and we can't wait to go back!

“The best place in Cozumel”

Casa Viento

My wife and I absolutely loved the place!

We stayed at unit 2 of Casa Viento and we could not be happier.

The Kitchen was perfectly equipped with very good quality pots and pans, silverware, microwave, stove, fridge, etc. It was in turn-key condition which saved us a lot of money since we were able to do a good deal of hassle free cooking.

The unit was also immaculate and the air conditioner worked really well, which is always a concern in hot and humid places. The bed was very comfortable and we had a beatiful view of the pool area of the property. Everything is very charmingly decorated. The wireless internet included in the price was a great plus and, even though this is a very safe island, havinig a guard outside of the property 24hrs a day added to the peace of mind.

NIcole and Raul are wonderful hosts. They lend you movies, give you free beer, facilitate snorkeling equipment, and give the best advise on the island. They have the perfect understanding of the right balance between privacy and interaction. We really enjoyed getting to know them..... even their pets Tiki (Parrot) and Diva (Coker Spaniel) are awesome.

What else can we say?? The beutiful beach is a very, very short and pleasant walk away, the Country Club area is just crossing the street fom the back of the property which makes for a reinvigorating morning walk surrounded by birds and flowers, you sleep like a log at night after spending the day snorkeling accompanied by thousands of fish.

This is not the place for those who love crowded, noisy, all-inclusive places with fake shows and lots of booze. Those who want a little taste of paradise will love Casa Viento and will leave wishing they had booked just one more night.

We are already planning our next trip!!!

Casa Viento is a great place to stay in Cozumel. My wife and I stayed for 10 days and we wish we stayed longer. We stayed in room #1 and it was clean and more than adequate. There are some really nice rooms in the hotel if you want more than a studio. Nicole and Raul are really good hosts and made us feel very much at home. They helped us with our activities and guided us to the good restaurants. They are as friendly as everyone one here has said and more. Raul is a very interesting guy and knows much about Cozumel since he grew up there. They really made our vacation special.

We started each day with coffee and made a small breakfast in the room. There was a refrigerator in our room so it made things convenient. We made instant oatmeal. We then left in our rented convertable Volkswagen that Nicole helped us rent. Use ISIS, as they are great and the car was really fun to drive. The beaches are amazing and the snorkeling great. Nicole and Raul will tell you where to go. We also went to Chichen Itsa to see the pyramid. It was a long day but great. Be sure to bring a bathing suit as you stop at a Cenote. It is a underground water hole that you can take a swim. We really liked the Fury snorkel trip. There is a lot to do and it is all good.

Dinners were great and we went to the ones that Raul and Nicole recommended. They really do know where to go. The prices we very reasonable.

We will return to Casa Viento and Cozumel. We have a few things left to see plus we might try the Kite boarding. Raul runs a school that can teach beginers like us.

“Not good at all”

Casa Viento

That was is not good at all.
We stayed 4 days and 3 nights. We had rented the honeymoon suite, there was a terrible noise because of wind.
It was not possible to sleep with this sound. We asked to change room. They did the change but they never asked if the new room was ok. And we didn't see anyone for 2 days.
They don't have breakfast service, you have to walk like 15 minutes to find the first place. Of course they don't have a restaurant.
They didn't clean the room the sunday and for the price it's not normal.
For me, it's not a good hotel. It's very expensive for the service.
We tried severals hotel in mexico and guatemala, and this is the worst hotel that we did.
