We wandered into Scuba Mau to ask about the possibility of renting some snorkel equipment. We ended up feeling so comfortable with the staff that we got dive certified and spent four days boat diving. Mau and Opal treat you like family and the staff is exceptional! They let the divers determine where to go (do you want to see great coral or wildlife?) and then keep great track of the divers under water. We both felt very safe and had a great time on each boat trip! Between dives, they feed you water and fresh fruit which is incredible. I can't imagine any dive shop doing a better job. We dove with three of the four dive masters and they were all great. Mau even came out with us on some of the boat dives because he knew we were new and he wanted to make sure we were comfortable.

We saw incredible coral, huge eels and even sharks! What a great, great trip!

You won't get a better price anywhere on the island (we compared) and you DEFINITELY won't get better treatment anywhere.

My wife and I just finished a week in Cozumel, diving with the professionals at Scuba Mau. I got dive certified while in Cozumel (two days of 1:1 lessons and intensive book review) and my wife took a refresher course. I have heard of fly-by-night organizations in Mexico that provide ‘certifications’ without the need for effort or training. Scuba Mau, I am happy to report is NOT one of these organizations, and is an exceptional way to get dive certified without compromise; and at a deal, I might add compared to the cost in the US.

I can imagine no better combination of friendly customer service, dive and location knowledge, and well maintained equipment. Opal, Mau and their exceptional group of bilingual dive-masters (Monkey, Gabby-loco, Pumba) know all the best locations, and are at ease with everyone from beginners to professionals. A few days with them, and you'll feel as though they are long-time friends.

They equip you with nice gear, schlep your gear for you (all of it), take you to the best dive spots, and help you to do it all safely. Dive with these folks and you won’t be disappointed. I KNOW WE will be back!
