I got back from the Getaway Club in May of 08 and have since been very grateful for what I have here in Edmonton, Canada. Anyone who says this resort is anything but discusting has obviously been unable to stay in a resort with a star rating above 2. If your looking for an illegal drug-hole, "bottled" tap water, terrible food, cold showers, no phone service, and absolutely zero entertainment besides the drunks fighting with no security interference, this is the place for u!

We got suckered into the place even after reading other peoples horror stories! So read away! theres lots of good info!

When we arrived at the resort, we were immediately greeted with a glass of rum punch. We didn’t realize that would be the last drink we would be served on our vacation as the staff NEVER came to you at the pool or lobby bar to ask what you wanted. You had to go get everything yourself. But no big deal. The alcohol was pretty pathetic. The mixes were horrible too.

The first night they served a good Italian meal in the buffet! We realize now they do this on the Monday meal to impress the new guests. After that meal things took a real spiral downward. In fact the “alacarte” restaurant which was supposed to be open twice during the week only opened once so we had one more good meal! In the buffet you get served chopped up wieners in a ketchup kind of sauce!

Near the end of the week they even ran out of rice and potatoes. Usually we looked forward to breakfast where you could at least have an omelet. But by day 4 or 5 they ran out of cheese for the omelets too.

So the other guests and us made a nightly habit of ordering pizza.

The first time we did order they recommended a Mexican place and the pizza was not so good so the following night we ordered dominoes. The third night, another guest and I went down to the front desk to order pizza yet again and they told us dominoes was closed and we would have to order form the Mexican place again. I said “No we ordered there last night at the same time” so He faked a call to dominoes twice and pretended they were closed. I then realized he had his finger on the phone pushing down the receiver and was not even calling them. I then said “Just give me the phone and I will call” MAGICALLY after this try he got through.

There was no hot water all week!!! although they tried to tell us it was hot. There was no Cable tv in any rooms either! The only tv that worked was the one the workers watched at the lobby bar while we sat and waited on service.

The chairs at the pool looked like they had been thrown out from another hotel and left in mud and brought to the resort. They were so disgusting I almost went to the “Mega Mart” for vim and a bucket. The staff who did absolutely nothing all week could have at least washed the chairs!

We did however do a few awesome day trips and thanks to our fellow canadians who were as stupid as as for booking :) we had a good time. But only because we all were there together trying to make the most of it!!

Basically if you are tempted to go for a cheap price like us.... don't.... ask your travel agent how much to upgrade to another resort.

For the price we were not dissappointed. We however knew the beds are not 5 star comfort(what would you expect), so we asked if we could have a foam on the mattress. Not a problem, they accomodated us, and all was ok. The rooms were clean, the service was great, and everyone of the staff smiled at us and treated us well. The breakfasts were great, the ommletts fantastic. Nice and close to the downtown...bus stop just outside, and close for walking.

MOST IMPORTANT THING IS IT WAS 18+The resort was amazing, food was great, plenty to do in the city. The place was pretty clean and the staff was so friendly even if you dont tip. almost all the tourists speak english. I would recommend the resort for younger people because its basicly a party place. For people who smoke w**d, you dont even have to leave the resort to buy anything, the guys on the beach who sell souveniers have everything for cheap. The ocean view rooms are amazing..we were on the 9th floor, the view is crazzy.

Just got back from the Ghetto Way Club. Drank my monies worth.
We paid $195 for 1 week all inclusive direct from vancouver bc for one week inlcuding return air and hotel. WOW, can you say no to that? the flight alone is worth that, even if we had to pay for another hotel. so i went with an open mind.

sunwing was delayed 5 hrs but gave us an apology note. (no consulation but better than any other airline would do) champaign on the welcome, hot meals for FREE and in flight entertainment, mint chocolate on exit, not bad for the no frills airlines these days. Only 1 hr delay on the way back.

At check in get these things: foamy for hard beds, remote control, iron, keys for safe, and upgrade to ocean view for sure for $20 a day. Twice the size with amazing ocean view and all the stuff in the rooms should work. Economy rooms had problems and not worth sweating the headaches for all the benefits for so little in ocean view suites.

Food was horrible mystery meat, resorted to fruits and veggies and nachos only from buffet. You could eat deserts and rice and potatoes, but meat was sketchy, no cut up hot dogs though as others said. turkey hot dogs are somewhat edible too. The breakfast omelettes of course was good, had to eat mr noodles for lunch with the fruits and nachos then maybe order dominoes or go to a restaurant downtown. pools were big and clean. staff was ok, tried hard, but not enough activities to do there. go to the clubs a few times. collage foam party was a crazy experience, senor frogs was awesome, hilo was ok. throw a beach party on the last day and get $5 booze from mega mart next door.

all in all you will meet awesome people that are social and like to party. Not a good place to relax the whole time or for 5 star people or picky people. you will miss some basic amenities and will need to be compensated for that in price. if you can go to a better place for $200-$400 more, then go there for sure. I would not go again to this place unless it was $500-600 or less including taxes. I was happy I went and paid less that $1,000 for me and my wife and the flight, booze, some food, and a place to lay my head after getting wasted paid every pennies worth.

A few people got so drunk that they passed out in the parking lot and had to be wheel chaired into the resort by the staff while we all watched and laughed. The next day we all cheered and said "Lets get wheel chair wasted"
