For the price we were not dissappointed. We however knew the beds are not 5 star comfort(what would you expect), so we asked if we could have a foam on the mattress. Not a problem, they accomodated us, and all was ok. The rooms were clean, the service was great, and everyone of the staff smiled at us and treated us well. The breakfasts were great, the ommletts fantastic. Nice and close to the downtown...bus stop just outside, and close for walking.

MOST IMPORTANT THING IS IT WAS 18+The resort was amazing, food was great, plenty to do in the city. The place was pretty clean and the staff was so friendly even if you dont tip. almost all the tourists speak english. I would recommend the resort for younger people because its basicly a party place. For people who smoke w**d, you dont even have to leave the resort to buy anything, the guys on the beach who sell souveniers have everything for cheap. The ocean view rooms are amazing..we were on the 9th floor, the view is crazzy.

Just got back from the Ghetto Way Club. Drank my monies worth.
We paid $195 for 1 week all inclusive direct from vancouver bc for one week inlcuding return air and hotel. WOW, can you say no to that? the flight alone is worth that, even if we had to pay for another hotel. so i went with an open mind.

sunwing was delayed 5 hrs but gave us an apology note. (no consulation but better than any other airline would do) champaign on the welcome, hot meals for FREE and in flight entertainment, mint chocolate on exit, not bad for the no frills airlines these days. Only 1 hr delay on the way back.

At check in get these things: foamy for hard beds, remote control, iron, keys for safe, and upgrade to ocean view for sure for $20 a day. Twice the size with amazing ocean view and all the stuff in the rooms should work. Economy rooms had problems and not worth sweating the headaches for all the benefits for so little in ocean view suites.

Food was horrible mystery meat, resorted to fruits and veggies and nachos only from buffet. You could eat deserts and rice and potatoes, but meat was sketchy, no cut up hot dogs though as others said. turkey hot dogs are somewhat edible too. The breakfast omelettes of course was good, had to eat mr noodles for lunch with the fruits and nachos then maybe order dominoes or go to a restaurant downtown. pools were big and clean. staff was ok, tried hard, but not enough activities to do there. go to the clubs a few times. collage foam party was a crazy experience, senor frogs was awesome, hilo was ok. throw a beach party on the last day and get $5 booze from mega mart next door.

all in all you will meet awesome people that are social and like to party. Not a good place to relax the whole time or for 5 star people or picky people. you will miss some basic amenities and will need to be compensated for that in price. if you can go to a better place for $200-$400 more, then go there for sure. I would not go again to this place unless it was $500-600 or less including taxes. I was happy I went and paid less that $1,000 for me and my wife and the flight, booze, some food, and a place to lay my head after getting wasted paid every pennies worth.

A few people got so drunk that they passed out in the parking lot and had to be wheel chaired into the resort by the staff while we all watched and laughed. The next day we all cheered and said "Lets get wheel chair wasted"

This is the worst hotel that I have ever been too. Our room was horrible. The beds were 2 wood pallets with a mattress pad. Our balcony door didn't lock. There was a 5 inch gap under our front door that allowed many critters in our room. The maid came twice during the week. There was black mold all over the bathroom, the toilet wasn't bolted down and wobbled, the shower never stopped running, and we only had paper thin hand towels. The pool area was a mess. At the end of the day a guy came through and picked up the glasses, but they were scattered everywhere all day. The pool had so much chlorine in it that my red swimsuit was pink when I got out. Breakfast was good, how can you screw up eggs. All other meals were horrendous. We ordered Dominos for dinner every night. My advice is to stay drunk!

“Ghetto All The Way”

I stayed at the Ghetto Way for a week, over New Years Eve. I must say, the only good thing I can say about this hotel, that it is walking distance from the Malecon, and from a great Salsa place. We were not expecting miracles, but having no entertaintment at all on New Years eve in Mexico in a so called "All Inclusive" resort was certanly unexpected. Instead, the staff was organizing a trip to a city night club, for 100 Euros per person! I don't think anyone actually bought into it.

The room was small, dingy and dark. There were two ragged, gray towels, and they were not changed the entire week. We used our beach towels that we brought with us...thanks God, because the hotel does not REALLY provide beach towels, and if and when they are available, they are even more ragged than the ones in the hotel room.

The food was ok, but cold or luke warm most of the time. I am a coffee person, and walked every day to either the Malecon (to Starbucks) or to a little coffee place in old PVR to get coffee; the luke warm instant coffee at the hotel was simply unconsumable.

The buffet was supposed to be open all day/night, but instead there was about two hours just before dinner when they served frozen hamburgers, nachos and hot dogs...obviously in the hope that you will fill on those and skip dinner.

The beach was filthy, the beach chairs and loungers had holes in them, and they were self adjusting: that is, if you sit down, the headpart would not go down, if you lied down, it would not come up.

The so called "security" staff did nothing to try to discourage the beach wendors, who were pestering the guests constantly.

The pool was dirty, and full with students who got drunk on the cheap and watered down drinks, and puked right into the pool.

Nightly entertaintment was at the small stage near the bar in the lobby, and consisted of karokee, and drinking games.

The elevator was noisy, dirty, and made such frightening noises, every time I got in, I prayed for my life...most of the time, we would rather walk the dingy and dark starcase, to the top, it seemed safer than taking the elevator.

The drinks were terrible, watered down and of the cheapest possible quality. The good thing is that there is a supermarket next door, and we bought our own drinks and snacks there, or ate out most of the time.

The hotel staff was useless when it came to information and/or booking tours, and for the few tours they sell, they grossly overprice them. There was supposed to be a briefing by our tour representative at the beginning of the tour, but the so called briefing was just to receive our departure information....apparently, whatever info we got on the bus from the airport to the hotels, was all the information we needed or the tour company was willing to provide.

We ended up picking up brochures at the Malecon, and booking our own tours directly with the operators.

Puerto Vallarta itself is a destination I loved, and will certanly return. However, I would never ever stay at the Ghetto Way again.

My boyfriend and I were not expecting much, and we are both experienced traveling on budget and staying in rugged places. However, we spent less money and got much more service at other places, including in Mexico, and even Cuba. The Ghetto Way is exactly that: Ghetto.
