When we were looking at the Palladium Resort for our vacation, I read alot of reviews myself and found them to be very helpful. I must have read a dozen or more reviews that reccomended upgrading to the Punta Minta section of the resort. Upon talking to our travel agent, she insisted that was not neccesary and was a waste of money. What we found out after we arrived was that the travel agent was not able to book us at the Punta Minta due to her connections with the booking agency. Our travel agent also reccomended this resort over others that we were looking at because she said that there would be very few Mexican nationals vacationing here. Upon arriving at the resort lobby we were shocked to walk into a sea of Mexican nationals!! It was at least 99% (NO EXAGERATION)
It was like a zoo in there. Hundreds of little kids running around all over the place and the swimming pool was so crowded that you wouldn't of even been able to get in without bumping into several people. It was loud and in no way relaxing!!
We were forced to stay on that side of the resort for the first night, but were able (and lucky) to transfer over to the Punta Minta for the rest of our trip. It cost us an additional $20 per person, per night, but was more than worth the extra cost !!!! The Punta Minta area has its own restaurant and pool and was awesome compared to the other side. The staff was outstanding at all the restaurants and the rooms were kept very clean. The pool was never crowded and it was so relaxing at the beach and the pool.
My reccomendation would be to not trust the travel agent if they try to get you to do anything other than stay in the Punta Minta section.

It's sad how such a beautiful hotel, in such a spectacular site can has such BAD SERVICE. I blame mostly management and their lack of proper communications with the guests. The actual worker were good. The location is in a secluded beach about 45 minute north of Puerto Vallarta. The beach was great, and the "regular" rooms were O.K.. If you are going, make sure you stay in their "Royal Suites" (for adults only) - much better service and the ability to make reservations in their specialty restaurants. I can't begin to tell you how bad things are there since the first day we got there to the time we checked out (three nights, four days) at a cost of $2,200.00 US dollars for my family of 6 adults, 3 children. in terms of the cost, it's not bad if you factor in the food and drinks. However, they had stricted dress code policies (which were not told to us until we got kick out of their restaurants). They state "adequate atire", for a beach resort, it's interesting how they interpret that. Also, only the "Royal Suite" guests could make reservations in the fancy restaurants, but noone told us that, so good luck getting seated - I guess they really want you to eat at their buffet, three meals a day while you're there. The lights went out for four hours, no air conditioning at night. Then the next day, the water went out in the entire hotel for 8 hours. Pools close at 8:00 pm (way too early for a summer beach resort. Except the adult pool closes at midnight - NO KIDS! I complained all the way up to the general manager to no avail. They just don't care, they figured they've got your money already. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Try Marival's in Nuevo Vallarta or Dream, much, much better service!

My wife and I booked this place for our honeymoon from which we just returned. I can personally tell you that you'd be spending your money better at a different place.

It is way too far from downtown Puerto Vallarta and expect to pay cab fares in the neighborhood of $35 USD and up...each way! Not only that, you are praying that you make it to your destination in one piece. One of our cab drivers was braking irradically and looked like he was falling asleep at the wheel. It is basically up in the hills in the middle of a jungle and it is very humid this time of year, so keep this in my mind.

When we first arrived we were taken back at how nice the lobby looked at the entrance to the resort. Very clean and well kept. We ere even offered a tropical blended drink called a "congo". I will admit this was very delicious and inviting. After we found out that we were lied to by Apple Vacations upon checking in (long story) we had just conceded and asked to be shown to our room.

There is a small zoo on ground along with lush tropical vegetation. You really feel the essence of being in a jungle when walking through the resort. Not only were the trees and plants big, but also the insects were. TIP: Bring lots of bug spray to avoid being eaten alive by mosquitos. I ended up with 25 bites in total.

The food at this place is very subpar in my opinion. I mean the mexican full service restaurant was its only saving grace. The buffet was enough to make me wanna pack my bags and get the hell outta dodge! This is basically the only real easy way to get food at this resort other than that nasty snack bar. Oh ill get to that one in a minute too. The buffet has different themed nights for their menu, but in reality only like 5 or 6 options change and the rest is the same....every single day! If i had to eat that disgusting pizza one more day i would have gone crazy. There are flies hovering over the salad bar at all times and often land on the food. Tasty, huh?? The food is absolutely wretched and unbearable. The snack bar is the only other last resort if you missed breakfast and dont want to wait to 12:30 to eat at the nasty buffet. This place is no better. Even bigger flies hang out here and now you also have birds eating out of the food. This place is outdoor which makes for an even worse experience.

We felt like we were trapped on this place when we wanted to go eat elsewhere, but didnt want to pay the $35 to go into town. Yea, there is no where else to eat at unless you wanna pay for the cab or un-air conditioned bus. The full service restaurants are tricky because they are either too busy or dont know if they can take you. Sometimes they are even closed because the chefs decided they didnt want to come to work. You liking this so far?

To top it all off, my wife and I came back home with a lovely stomach bug. The only way we can describe it is that it is gut-wrenching for about a few seconds and then goes away. It will bascially do this off and on all day and make you want to use the restroom all day. Along with the bug bites and sun burn, this was about the last straw!

Upon further inspection of the grounds, you are quick to notice how dirty the place actually is and how unsanitary the pools are. We overheard some mexicans talking about how they were urinating int he pool. This about threw me over the edge!

We were ready to leave that place on our 4th night there, but still had 2 nights remaining. That trapped feeling started to come back and just couldnt wait to leave the place. We lost running water for about 4 hours in the morning which is a no-no. Imagine going through your afternoon in a humid jungle without brushing your teeth.

The staff was somewhat friendly and helpful. The locals who stay there are about the rudest people I have ever met!! They cut in lines at the bufftet and basically do whatever they want. The children are out of control and even more rude than their parents.

Overall, just stay away from this place and you will have lived a better life. It is not worth the money you will be spending. Remember, this place is not in downtown Puerto Vallarta and you will pay heavily for rides into town. This is in the state of Nayarit and PV is in the state of Jalisco.

DONT STAY HERE!!!

This resort was very beautiful its in the middle of the mountians which makes it hard if u wanna sight see. The bartenders we great but the rest of the staff were horrible. The resort is very racist if you dont speak spanish. We were standing in line waiting for food someone walked in front of us started speaking spanish and got our food we were waiting for. The waiters were much more helpful to spanish speaking patrons giving them drink refills and cleaning there tables. we actually had to clear and set our own table somedays. The beach is rocky and has to hard of an under current to actually swim. Only go if you upgrade to the royal suites because they treat you even worse if your just a regular guest. We got sick off of under cooked food and the resort stinks like sewage. buffet was good for the first 4 days but got REALLY sick of the food cause everythings the same. The hotel tries to get as much money from you as possible so dont use your phone and bring everything u need they charged us 25 dollars for a tiny bottle of aloe vera which would cost ya about 10 dollars in canada. power went out twice once for 2 hours and the hotel had NO candles or flashlights so we had to sit in the dark. water comes out brown from the taps. horrible experience worst vacation. DONT GO HERE! zoo animals are over crowded and sad very stinky they dont take care of there animals very well

Just returned from the facility. For relatively fit persons who enjoy walking this place is really appealing. If you can't move well this is not a place for you.

Lots of stairs to climb - its built on an oceanside hillside & you will walk alot.

Staff is great, cheerful & very attentive. Food at the full service restaurants is great, wearing trousers to the restaurants is published & welcome - the restaurants are nice enough to deserve better than shorts.

Mexican infrastructure can break down (no power due to lightening storms, water line breaks) and may take a while to repair. We lost AC, notified the front desk & they moved us to a very nice new room...with good grace.
