Don't hesitate to book a trip here. It is absolutely romantic, beautiful, fun... anything you want it to be.
I think the best part about this hotel is that, everything is available to you when you want it... or not. You can be occupied by the entertainment (which could use some help actually), or you could be completely left alone. You could make 20 friends at the pool bar, or you could completely ignore everyone else and spend time with your significant other. It is very hidden away, there is lots of beautiful foliage, and the architecture is like an old Jamaican Plantation. We saw many hotels while we were in Negril, and would not have traded our hotel for any other. In fact, we are ready to book another trip. We heard that the other Couples resort (swept away) is very nice as well.
I will give you the best advice I can give, but please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help!
I have one complaint: There is no bottled Red Stripe. My fiance and I are big beer drinkers, and we got a little tired of tap Red Stripe after awhile. Although the mixed drinks were really good, they were really strong, a little too strong for me.
The resort does spray for bugs, and I was impressed by how few bugs I did see while I was there. Although... I can not stress it enough - wear bug spray! I got bitten a few times. But it absolutely did not ruin my trip.
Also, it is a lot more humid than we are used to here in So Cal. If I regretted anything, it was not bringing more swimsuits. Once my swimsuites got wet, they would never dry because it was so humid! So girls, I am not just giving you an excuse to go swimsuit shopping, you truly need a different suit for every day you are there.
The people are also amazing. The service is great. They really keep the resort safe for its guests. There are security guards on each end of the Couples beach, and they make sure not many people (vendors) come and hassle you.
The food is also great! However, for the high-end restaurant, I think it's called Otahite or something, you need to have LONG PANTS. Who brings long pants to the Caribbean? Just make sure you bring them if you want to eat there. We met some people who bought nicer clothes so that they could eat there, and they weren't sure it was worth it.
Oh, and don't miss the massage in the beach hut. So relaxing!
That's all I can think of for the resort itself. Don't miss Ricks Cafe. It is such a great experience with cliffs, sunset, and a live reggae band. Jimmy Buffet's was dissapointing. We did not hear one Jimmy Buffet song while we were there!
Like I said this was an amazing, relaxing trip at a great resort! I hope this was helpful and please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever. I know that candid pictures are a big help so I will attach some of those as well. Thanks and happy travels.
