THE FLIGHT TO PUNTA CAna was nice and smooth we flew in frum new york. Me my boyfriend my friend and her boyfriend. As we fly in you can see all the resorts from above and the beatiful aqua blue water. The airport itself is beautiful, as soon as you step off the plane you feel that hot son.Make sure to bring sun glasses and plenty of sun tan lotion. The hotel is beautiful the peole who have left bad reviews on this place must beinsane ,everything is well kept. The workers are friendly. The room is nice and clean, most rooms come with double beds they only have about 20 rooms with king size beds .We put the beds toghther we didnt mind. The ac worked well we would leave the ac on so when we eneterd the room it would be nice and cool. There was hot water all times of the day do not drink the tap water. The maid kept everything nice and clean and she was very friendly as well. The buffet had differnt food each day.The pools were beautifil there were many shady spots but you have to wake up early to get good spots .The beach was the best part so beautiful the water was clean you see your feet and the sand was white. The best part was the beach. There are many things to do on the beachlike kayaking, boogie boarding , snokrlng and so on. The bars are always crowded and the drinks our waterd down. Mama juana was a highliht of the trip which is a liquor that is very popular in the dominican rep. There are many activies to do on the beach .The restaurants arent so great if i had to recomend one it would be the italian one which is called Micahelangelo... i woudlnt recommend the "Taino" restaurant service is horrible and the food is great. At the buffets it is hard to get drinks. Orlando was the best waitor and the girl who wrks as hostess for the breakfst buffet is nice she saids :Holla ,Holla" so excting. As for excusrsions i would recomend Bavaro Splash in which you drive your own speed boat to the middle of the carribean sea and swim with fish and view lots of coral. This trip was the best and I would defitnitly go again

Ok, I"m not pulling any punches on this one. I have been travelling resorts since 2003. This is actually my second trip to Punta Cana, and I only went back because it was affordable.
Mind you, every trip I've taken from Cancun, Puerta Vallarta, Germany, and Punta Cana have all had a low rate from me for one reason or another, but this one takes the cake!

1. All inclusive should mean exactly that. The concierge folks waited in your room until you tipped them.. (tips are supposed to be inlcluded). Service was great when you first get there, we had to either go without drinks for dinner or get up and get our own from the bar. There was no service at the pool bar, it wasn't even a swim up bar, you had to take a trolley train to the clubs side of the resort to get to the swimup bar.

2. it's our 6th day back and I 'm still sick from the buffet food. I'm a male, and if I had any inclination what menstraul cramps felt like, I would say I have them! Food Selection was awful, mind you both times I was in Punta cana I got sick and both buffet were horrible.

3. We booked two rooms, one for us ,and one for the kids, one room was not even ready after a 3 hour wait to check in. No towel service until late the first day, second day, third day and fourth day. No beach towel service the fist day.

4 No tour, no direction or oreintation given. Brush up on yoru spanish cause English is not spoken very weel, if at all at this resort.

5. The liqour was horrible, and they did not know how to make any of the drinks they state they have. I will say that the lobby bar and Luis at the swim up bar made some decent drinks, but no real activities for the kids or adults as they stated on the site.

6. Mini bar consisted of a gallon of water and 1 coke and 1 sprite, which was to be refilled everyday, we got a refill the 2nd day and nothing else afterwards.

7. One girl complained that someone had been in her room and I mean she was pissed. We had just come back from the other side (non beach) of the resort and she was in the lobby sayingthat she was going to"sue this [---] place" someone evidently went in her room and took something. Poor guy at the desk was like "I've been here all day, wasn't me".

8. The beach was nice, but lack of shade or palm chairs. Pool was big but no real activities. If you wanted activites you had to go to the smaller swim up bar pool on the "french' side. The food in the buffet there was much better too.

9. if you stay less than 8 days you will only be allowed to go to 1 specialty resteraunt. We had two rooms, and they told us that if we wanted to sit together we had to combine the two dinner tickets into 1 because we were a family, otherwise the kids could go to one resteraunt and we could go to another. What a crock. I was in Cancun for 5 days and got to visit every speciaity resteraunt at least once!

10. Take an extreme amount of sun screen. I'm black and I got sun burned! the Sun is extremely hot.

11. The disco is on the resort but small and only plays Spanish music. Once again drink service is non existent and they still wanted tips.

12. The coco tours driver that pics you up for orbitz can not dirve. I wish I had taken my camcorder to record the drive and show it a a driving education class.

13. A/C in one room was not working as well, had to push one bed to the end by the patio doors to get any air.

14. Requested a king size bed, got to the resort and had the concierge talk to the manager, whom gave us a look like "yeah right", they actually said "push the beds together", what kind of crap is that?!?!

I5. and there is a 10 dollar tourist fee card that you have to pay to get into the airport! Wasn't told about that!

We will probably never go back to Punta Cana, we thought it would be better and different if we stayed at a different resort..it was different alright. If you go, suggest the RIU, it at least had way better service and activites that pitted the different nationalities against each other is sporting pool games. We are going to stick to Cancun and other places in Mexico. DR is out, might try the bahammas or st. lucia aswell. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone, spend your money elswhere or go back to where you think you had fun.

ok..well we go to our room and thought it was pretty nice, I have to say the place is nice on arrive. Ist night everything went ok. Must tell you if you never did a all-inclusive before you MUST book your dinner when we get in. Reserve all resturants asap you cant get in with out a reservation.
2nd night walked into the hallway and saw a big roach..YEs a roach. I know we are in the islands but i really prefer not to see them. We went into our room put on the lights and saw 2 more in our bathroom. Ok thought it was the norm for a island. As we tried to sleep that night we where watching some tv and another one ran across the screen...Well thats it! I cant sleep anymore. Next morning I went to the front desk and told them of our problem, they apoligized and told us someone whould come and take care of the problem. After returning from the beach we entered our room to the smell of bug spray. I forgot to say but my 6 year old was on this trio with us so had to smell this great smeel. That night went well no bugs. Next night they came back. Called the front desk and told us someone would come up asap. We waited and waited finally my daughter feel alseep and knock knock at 11:30 a housekeeper comes with a can of spray! Same smeel that we smelled before. We told her thats not gonna work. Next day back to front desk they said a extermanator would come soon. Well ok then but our stay is almost over. better late than never. Also be prepared to get harrased every morning after breaskfast "my friend" they will say trying to get you to by timeshares and jewerly. If you dont have the correct change they dont want to get you money back. I would return to punta cana but have to find a better place to stay. Sorry!

Montreal

After reading all the negative reviews on this hotel last year, I regretted booking here. But it was too late as I had already booked.
When I arrived, I couldn't believe how amazing this place was. I couldn't find anything negative about it. The only thing I regretted was going for only one week. I loved it so much that I am going back for 2 weeks. I am leaving this Saturday and I can't wait!

Here's some info for you:

Food:

The buffet had so much variety that you don't really need to go to the a la carte restaurants. Every night is a different theme (spanish, american, italian,...). The service was great and the staff was very friendly. I don’t remember in detail what I ate, all I know is that I had amazing food every night. Bear in mind that I am from Montreal where the food is really good. If I liked the food at this hotel, it means something.

Entertainment:

They had the best show I had ever seen. Their dance routines were professionally choreographed. Don't forget that the entertainers are up early in the morning and organize several activities through out the day. At night, they perform at the show and after that, they go to the hotel's club to dance and get the party going. Speaking of the hotel's night club, only guests of the hotels show up there. If you think people from other resorts are going to come, think again. But if there are plenty of single people at the hotel, the club does get packed. If you don't like it, just grab a cab (ask the reception to call you one) and go to Mangu. Be careful at Mangu, I have heard stories of people have their drinks laced with drugs. Go their with a group of people and be cautious of the locals. If you are a girl, they will ask you to dance one after another, no matter what you look like. So if you crave attention, this is the place for you.

Beach:

Pure white sand and blue water, what more do you want? It can get rough at times, so be careful of the undertow. You can snorkel at the far left of the beach near the water sport rope, but there isn't much to see. If you walk further right and pass a couple of hotels, there's some better snorkeling, but nothing amazing, don't expect to see Great Barrier Reef quality fish.

People:

The guests were a mix of Europeans (french, german, spanish, italian) and North Americans. Note to single men: The Spanish women are incredibly hot. Learn a few words in Spanish and go talk to them. If you get lucky, you owe me a drink. Note to women: The entertainers will most likely hit on you. They are harmless, just don't give them any attention and they will move on to their next prey.

Room:

I don't remember what my room looked like. I was only there to sleep, shower and use the toilet. Once I had the runs and... never mind, I won't go into details. All you have to know is that the plumbing works great!

Some people are frustrated with their personal and professional lives. They actually like going on vacation and complaining about everything. So they tell of the staff so they can feel superior and perhaps for once in their life they feel in control. Just go and enjoy your stay.

Eat, drink, swim, tan, dance and leave your worries behind.
