What can i say, absolute fab time again at the Sun Village Resort.(2nd time we have stayed at this resort).
Went from 2nd September to 16th September, weather great most of the time.
The resort hasn't gone downhill at all, it is beautiful and very well kept, the grounds are breathtaking, the 7 pools brilliant, beach great again always cleaned and the seaweed tidied up everyday, and the beach bar is still a great place to hang out, beach grill did great food.
Aqua lounge, theatre lounge, juice bar etc all great.
And the staff, what can i say, the friendliest most helpful people you will find anywhere, made alot of new friends in the staff and was really pleased to meet the ones we made from last year.
All in all i cannot find one bad thing to say about Sun Village apart from i wished we could have stayed longer.
Met alot of nice people whilst there too, so hi to :
Justin & Diane, George & Jackie, Tina & John, Bill & Julie, Poppy Janene & the clan, Lynne & Phil, Steve & Jane, Gavin & Heather, Leanne & William and everyone else i havent mentioned. Hope you all had a brill time like we did !!!!
WELL DONE Sun Village, a fantastic holiday once again and hope to return soon !!!!!
Would recommend to anyone!!!!

Our whole family got the runs, the manager of the hotel never contacted us when we called repeated ly. Many people were sick, if this hotel was in the US, it would have been closed!

Check out what the toilet and bath looked like in the first room they tried to give us!

and we were accosted at every turn by Sales Representatives selling time shares.

Sun Village Resort staff is shocked by these allegations! These photos are not representative of our bathrooms! Faced with these photos we looked into the matter and there's no record of any sick guest during the month of June. There is also no sign that anyone tried to even approach our general manager--in person or phone! Our GM makes himself available and is very hands-on. We are in the process of investigating what we must do to fully counter this unfair claim.

“Loved every minute - Including hurricanes!!!!!”

Sun Village Resort & Spa Cofresi

Where to start?..... I will keep it short:
If you are going on Honeymoon/Anniversary - STATE THAT IN WRITING TO YOUR TRAVEL AGENT BEFORE LEAVING and save yourself the heartache of being told they have no knowledge of it!!!! To ensure you get the upgrades promised etc etc.

Spa - Fan-flippin-tastic! A bit pricey but WORTH every penny to get treated like a Queen! Have the hot stone massage and go early afternoon so you can stay for the rest of the day - we went when Tropical storm Hannah hit, but despite that, still used the outside Jacuzzi!

Room - Great, book superior! Bed super, super comfy, slept like a log every night! Room cleaned every day - fridge restocked etc etc.

Resort - STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beach - Loving it! Ok so its not pure white sand but its fab and I love the beach beds and jacuzzi and bar - you dont want for anything!!

Food- Peed off that the Lemongrass was shut throughout our ENTIRE stay!! Citrus is FAB! They treat so well!! Loving the sea bass and lobster! Sonora - wasnt overly keen. Buffet - hit and miss as some are, chicken often undercooked but loads of choice and even the fussiest eater would find something, breakfasts are great, fresh egg/omlette station and smoothie station.

Bars- Our fave was the Aqua lounge! Loved it! Theatre bar ok, but played the same poo music day in day out, ok if you like 50cent. Entertainment staff were Brill! Made sure we were all safe and had things to do when it rained! Evening entertainment was OK, would have been nice to see something different on our second week - not entirely sure about the magician!! Poor goat is all I will say!

Nightlife outside resort - Recommended not to go into the Town. Ahora restaurant on the beach is nice, try the jumbo platter - lobster, ribs, steak, shrimp!!!! To die for but a wee bit pricey!

Staff - Excellent, so hardworking and so friendly, nothing is too much trouble! Only prob we found is the front desk staff dont speak very much English so after 15 mins of trying to explain what you want, you give up!

Things to be aware of: Hurricanes (in September)!!! Prickly heat, timeshare reps, Resort reps (another story!) undercooked chicken, dont use phone in room- lots of confusion on checking out!

Dont worry about bad reviews, everyone has to moan sometimes, we were worried but had a great time! Would go back in an instant!!!!

Returned home from a great 2 weeks at sun village, cant fault the hotel staff- very friendly and willing to help.
Room was very nice , 2 double beds, ipod player, nice sized balcony and always kept clean. Never had any problems with theft, we felt very safe during our stay.
Loved the swimming pools and especially the jazcuzzi, spa was a really nice treat-well worth the money.
Enjoyed the food at malibu(buffet), citrus and sonora was disapointed that the thai restuarant was closed for our stay.
Evening entertainment was basic and short each night, but entertainment staff work very hard and good laugh. Disco was closed also.
Didnt find stairs a problem and we are at the top of resort, bell boys always able to help by picking/dropping you of were you wanted to go.
Done trip to paradise island didnt think this was as great as some people thought but prefered the catamaran free style trip- very relaxing and great for snorkling.

When return to Dominican Republic we will definately be staying here again!

“One Year Later and Still No Resolution”

Sun Village Resort & Spa Cofresi

Sep 5, 2008

It has now been one year since we stayed at this resort, and the management has failed to follow through as they promised.

During our stay severla hundred dollars as well as a driver's license was stolen out of the room safe. At first, were were told that there was no way to open a safe except by the code the guest imput. Of course, this makes no sense. How does the resport open safes that are left locked when a guest leaves or forgets the code they entered?

Eventually, management promised to resolve this issue and submit the claim to their insurance company. Over the last year, we have continued to try to communicate with management. We were initially given excuse after excuse. Now, our commnications go unanswered.

It has become clear that the safety of their guests is not a priority for this resort. Reading other's reviews, I see that our experience was not an isolated occurance. It appears that there is a pattern of theft at this resort. This indicates that management does little if anything to secure the safety of its guests and their property.

I would tell anyone considering a trip to this resort to think twice. It is beautiful, but you are not safe. I expect someone from the resort will write about how this is an isolated event, or that it was our fault somehow...the truth is in the fact that we are not the only one this has happened to.

It has become clear that SunVillage Management lied to us about submitting the claim and had no intention of ever resolving the crime issue it has at this resort. With all the other alternatives, I would pick a safe resort.

Sun Village Resort & Spa is a beautiful and safe resort. We value our guests greatly and go above and beyond to ensure they have excellent vacations.

It is a rare occurrence that anything should go missing here. Guest rooms are equipped with safety deposit boxes and we encourage all guests to keep cash, jewelry and important travel documentation in the safe – as it is an all-around good, sensible, practice.

There is no record of theft last September. Should a guest find something missing it is important that we are notified immediately so that we may act accordingly. This is the first any of us in management hear of this alleged incident.

Sun Village Resort & Spa has security stationed at various posts 24/7, 365 days a year. We also have “floating” security guards and well-lit paths. This is easily the safest resort in the Dominican Republic.
