My boyfriend and I went to Paradise Beach March 12th week, which landed on 1/2 Holy Week, and 1/2 Spring Break. The reviews made us a little worried, but suffice to say our trip was GREAT! The staff was very pleasent, the food was a different theme every night. I would reccomend the Steak from the a la carte. Mmmmmmmmm! Our room was quite old, but what can you expect? It was no biggie because we really didn't hang out in there. I would reccomend bringing a themal mug to put your drinks in though, they warm up REAL quick in the little plasic cups! I would also reccomend the "Paradise Beach" trip, it is a 2.5 hour drive both ways, but I can't stop thinking about how amazing the beach and snorkling was!! One of my favorite trips ever! :) We kept our passports and money in our suitcase locked instead of the safe because we heard that might not be safe, and we were totally fine! We had a garden view suite right by the pool, and I was quite impressed, like I said older, but we had a table and chairs, and the TV got english channels, and we had a balcony, it was really great. The food and water were really good too! They have coolers of water around everywhere, you are totally safe! :)
Unless you are expecting a 5 star, you should ignore all the bad reviews! This place is great!

My boyfried of 3 years decided to give me a trip for christmas to puerto plata..we went to our travel agent and told them we would like to go to Paradise Beach because of some friends comments on how nice it was...Upon arrival the staff was great..the resort was awsome..the scenery was beautiful...our favoriate bartender was Alain at the restuarant bar...he entertained every1 and was alot of fun ! Our room was cute...the food was great and the entertainment was good..
The best part of the trip was that i got engaged right there on the beach!!!
We want to go back to get married there ,,hopefully when they re-open it will be soon enough and be just as magical as our first day there!

My partner and I went to The Paradise Beach Hotel and Casino in Feb 2008 and we found it to be Great .Room was basic but very clean. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help ! Hotel was an amazing building very colonial looking !! Staff were always painting, repairing or touching up and cleaning.The food in the buffet was FAB loads of choice.The beach was amazing and we booked excursions with John on the beach which were great !!If going on the jeep safari take insect repellant as we got bitten by ticks in the mountain villages ! Weather was truly wonderful and beware the sun is fierce.If you go whale watching take your travel sickness tablets first .....I did'nt and threw up but we did see whales !!! All in all the stay here was FAB and don't know why people complain.....guess some people are just too fussy,go and have a great time, you will LOVE it !!

We book this hotel because it was close to the airport and the beach. After reading the other reviews we were alittle afraid but it was not like most people said. The people at the resort were friendly and always helpful. The food was wonderful, if you could not find something you liked to eat you should of stayed home. There was a large selection and if varried from day to day. The rooms were clean and beach was beautiful. The only problem we had was the rudeness of many of the people from the other Canadian country. The beach was the best one of all of Playa Dora. We would have no problems returning to this hotel.
