My wife and I have stayed at Mayhurst several times. It is always a treat. The last time we visited ,Jack (one of the owners) lent me a fishing rod and told me the best place to buy worms and I spent a relaxing afternoon at the pond while my wife visited all the little shops in Orange and had... more

We booked a romantic getaway package at the Mayhurst and it was wonderful. We loved the room and the property itself. The breakfasts were wonderful. Jack and Pat were very helpful, providing information about the area attractions and restaurants. They went out of their way to create a memorable experience for us. We can't wait to return. more

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary by touring wineries and staying at the Mayhurst Inn. What a great experience! Pat and Jack were very accomodating. They have the perfect balance of being personable hosts and giving guests space to enjoy themselves. The wine and cheese reception was fantastic and is a great way to meet people. It's quiet... more

We just got home from our weekend stay at the Mayhurst Inn, and I miss it already. We met friends there who we don't get to see very often so we were looking for a relaxing place where we could sit and visit as much as we wanted. My husband and I had been to Mayhurst before so we suggested... more

This large, beautiful southern mansion and the 27 acres of shaded grounds exceeded our expectations. Both appear meticulously maintained. As the house comes into view from the tree-lined drive, you get a sense of seclusion from the outside world, and of stepping back into a more genteel time. The owners, Jack and Pat, welcomed us graciously even though we arrived... more

Great experience; highly recommended. The Inn is visually stunning and beautifully restored. The grounds are lovely. One feels transported back to the 19th century. Our room was spacious and clean with modern amenities. The owners - Pat and Jack -are friendly and easy-going. They cheerfully offered great tips on local attractions, wineries, and restaurants. We followed their advice and were... more

For history lovers there is no better place to stay then Mayhurst Inn. The beautifully restored historic home once had property that was contiguous with James and Dolly Madison's nearby Montpelier. It is the the perfect location from which to explore the Madison home, Charlottesville and Monticello, Civil War battlefields, and surrounding towns like Culpeper. The property itself is beautifully... more

This is a top-notch B&B. We stayed at the Mayhurst for one evening in September. It was a quiet time at the Inn with about 3 of the rooms occupied. The Mayhurst is a beautiful property. Its a great place for a romantic getaway. It's a perfect place for a wedding as the outside grounds are as beautiful as the... more

We stayed at the Mayhurst over Easter this year (actually for 10 days in all) for an Easter break from the UK. Jack and Pat have created a real magical "Home from Home" atmosphere at the Mayhurst and we were all under their spell from the moment we entered the house. No room keys needed here - this is staying... more

I had just finished a conference in the Washington, DC area and wanted to relax. My brother suggested we find a bed and breakfast inn in the wine country south of DC. After browsing the internet and a wine magazine, we decided to stay at the Mayhurst Inn in Orange, Va, a very small town. We were very pleased that... more
