Zanzibar palace hotel, located in an old Arabic building which has been restored emphasizing its ancient features, is a luxurious nine room boutique hotel right in the heart of stone town. A combination of Arabic, Indian and English designs into a harmonic and homely place, added that we offer a wide range of modern facilities (a/c, TV, DVD). Room rates for every purse definitely makes this a place to stay. more » « less

We booked the sultana suite for two nights in July as the start to our trip around zanzibar. We had read all of the reveiws, and really were not disappointed. The hotel was absolutely charming, in a great location and with fantastic staff. Our room was huge, with a four poster bed and corner bath. We also had a balcony... more

We stayed in the Zanzibar Palace for 3 days at the end of our honeymoon in September. We were very disappointed, as we expected a boutique hotel, and it's really more of an average bed and breakfast. And for 295$ a night, well, you'd expect a lot more. We were in the Sherali Suite, and it's large...but a shabby old... more

We stayed here for one night to explore Stonetown and chose it based on the tripadvisor reviews. The room was very well appointed and they had thought of everything. Breakfast was very good and there was a huge variety on offer. Jan at reception was very helpful- recommending restaurants and liasing with our ground agent. With hindsight we would have... more

I picked the Zanzibar Palace Hotel based on the reviews I had read. As a solo traveller I chose economically-priced Rosewood for two nights and decided to splurge on Arabica for my last night. Rosewood was a bit bigger than I had expected, and I loved the room from the minute that I entered it. It was clean, airy, beautifully... more

My girlfriend and I spent 1 night in Stone Town this summer and chose this hotel since it was rated nr. 1 on Tripadvisor. So we expected a lot. We were not disappointed at all. Everything is just perfect. Admittedly, the location is not spectacular (in a tiny street, not by the beach) although it is quite close to everything... more

I think we must have been very, very unlucky with our stay at this hotel. I booked the hotel based on all the excellent reviews from tripadvisor, my expectations were therefore very high even more so based on the cost of the rooms. We found the staff overall to be friendly except the manager who seemed to be constantly under... more

My wife and myself stayed for the last night of our Tanzania holiday at Zanzibar Palace Hotel. I read a lot (before booking) about hotels in Stone Town to be able to make the right choice and get realistic expectations. And we were very happy with our choice! The hotel is not in the main tourist area of Stone Town,... more

Very charming place in Stonetown, the rooms are decorated amazingly, it's very romantic. The only downsides are the location (it is very hidden and there are no views!) and the restaurant in the lobby area which doesn't have any charm at all. more

Suite Durnia (spelling?) on top floor w outdoor bathroom. Forget having to struggle w crowds at Africa House for sunset image - image seeing it off your own private deck.... ahhhh.... still makes me so relaxed to think about it. Perfect post-Kili climb. 2 showers, and 2 deck chairs overlooking city and water.... perfect. FOOD: Breakfast was included, and delicious... more

Excellent hotel in a very good location in Stone Town. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff especially manager Jan who knows the island and is always ready to advise and help solve problems. For various reasons we stayed in 3 different rooms all of which were very good, everything works, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Very good value for money, highly... more
