We had such a wonderful time when we stayed here. We had a room overlooking the pool and jacuzzi and were able to sit on the balcony while our kids were swimming. Our room had a microwave and fridge which was nice since we stocked up on sodas/goodies and the breakfast in the morning was surprisingly good. We had scrambled... more

We stayed at the HI Express Solana Beach as we had tickets for a concert at the nearby Belly Up Tavern (which was unfortunately cancelled, but that's another story) just for one night. We paid around $100 and got a decent night's sleep in comfortable beds and the complimentary breakfast was plentiful and included hot items as well as the... more

I usually stay at the Courtyard next door, but it was booked up so I tried the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel lobby was small, but the staff greeted me quickly and called me by my name. It went down hill from there. They put me on the third floor in the back (they said near the ocean, but you... more

The hotel does not enforce its non-smoking areas. Don't be surprised to find broken fixtures, air conditioners incapable of cooling the room, noise when you're trying to sleep, paper thin walls between the rooms (forget privacy), and housekeeping staff that is either incompetent or apathetic. The management is, however, very good at apologizing. Apparently, it is a well honed skill. more

Called several times as we had 3 adults and 2 children and we needed an extra bed or room which we were willing to pay for. Upon arrival they said they were sold out and could not do anything for us but managed to charge us extra for additional people in room. They found a rollaway that reeked of smoke... more

This was a decent place to stay for the price, but if your looking for atmosphere and beachfront rooms, this is not the place. We have 5 in our family so its sometimes hard to find a place that you can sleep 5 in a room, so this place was good for that. The beach was about a 5 minute... more

the hotel rooms were very cozy, and the staff was courteous and very friendly. there are wonderful places to eat in the area and the Hotel will be the best guide for that. The breakfast was great and its just awfully nice to be in the pool in the fabulous san diego weather. This would be an easy recommendation to... more

GOOD: Nice location; very clean; helpful staff; easy access covered parking (right under the hotel) which couldn't be more convenient; nice breakfast spread for light, but filling, morning meal. BAD: Loud and annoying rock-type music in the lobby at all times which discourages any excess time spent there; Some poor quality workmanship, especially in the bathroom, which looks like it... more

Right from the point of contact for the Reservations to the check-in, stay in the rooms and the subsequent check out, this hotel left pleasant memories due to the excellent service, courteous and friendly staff, convenience and efficiency. The Holiday Inn Express is conveniently located on Highway 101 and all main attractions are at walking distance (as the front desk... more

Contrary to a previous report about the Holiday Express, we found it inviting and suited to our needs. A continental breakfast is provided each morning with sweet rolls, cold cereal, fruit , coffee and hard boiled eggs. The Holiday Express now has wonderful bedding and both firm and soft pillows. We had one of the best sleeps at a hotel... more
