The resort is old but quaint. Our room was adequate. Did have difficulty with getting enough towels and wash cloths. But we did have hot water. We thought the beach was very nice. The weather was very warm but pleasant. The problem is with the food. The buffet food was barely edible. If it had not been for the pasta... more

OK, here goes nothing! 4 girls, aged 30 to 33, and this was our second fall holiday together, last year being Cancun. We booked 8 days, Wednesday through Wednesday, all-inclusive including transportation to and from the airport for $703 each, so we knew it wasn't going to be anything extraordinary. Leading into the trip, we checked tripadvisor daily, but there... more

The Domincian Republic seems like a lovely place to go on holiday - me and my friend went for a week - 2 English girls in our 20s. The beach is beautiful and at this resort you can go walking along the beach in either direction for quite a while. But the beach and the beer were the only nice... more

We stayed at the resort from 10/3/08-10/11/08 and the stay was…rocky. It is true that the locals come and spend the entire weekend. They are very noisy and most do not speak English. Yes, the cut in line and take over the swimming pools but there is always the beach. It is important to note that the food changes when... more

We got to the resort Sat. evening, everything they say about the locals coming in on the weekends is true. There were over 100 locals there at the resort both weekends we stayed. It is very busy and loud during that time, they take over everything. The food even changes on the weekends catering to them. Sunday night they leave... more

i have to agree with most of the reviews on here. The hotel itself is really nice - a lot smaller than most resorts in the Dominican Republic. Its nice and quiet and has lovely views etc. However, the locals that arrive every weekend with weekend passes totally ruin the experince for the rest of the holidayers. Theres no room... more

We did not book this hotel, but ended up staying here anyway when our travel agent booked us into the wrong hotel. We were here for 4 days in February before we got moved to the proper hotel. I was NOT happy to be staying at this hotel - since we had paid and booked a 4 star hotel, this... more

My overall rating for this hotel: POOR. I am a Dominican, woman who traveled by herself in need of some R&R. Reception area failed to provide the basics at check in: remote control, towel tickets, no disturb sign in the room- very disorganize & young staff members- I think they did it on purpose, so I can continue to either... more

Barcelo..where to begin! Firstly if you do not feel like listening to the same spanish cd over and over again, bring your own music. The disco plays the same songs over every night and its all spanish..gets boring pretty fast. Speaking of boring, the resort has very little activites to do besides go from the pool to the beach. The... more
