The Trans Asia bills itself as Colombo's "leading city resort." This is a bit of a delusional self-promotion and experience will demonstrate that it strains credulity. The Trans Asia is a decent mid-budget urban hotel in a developing country. But for those desiring authentic atmosphere, the Galle Face is an obvious choice, while the businessman or well-heeled family will likely... more

I was in Colombo for a short business trip and since it was my first trip there, I decided to ask my business partner for hotel recommendations. Trans Asia Hotel was one of his top recommendations and I decided to go for it. The hotel is about an hour from the airport. Airport - Hotel transfer was arranged for us... more

Stayed for only 1 night but enjoyed my stay. My room was of a nice size, very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was helpful. We did not get out much as we had meetings in the hotel. Breakfast buffet was fine. Felt that the entire experience was very nice. more

I spent two nights at the TransAsia in early February. Room not extravagant, but clean and comfortable enough. Hotel restaurants were quite good, including Thai and Indian places. Lobby/lounge evening entertainment obnoxious. Pool was nice and well kept. Service average at best and some employees at the front desk were unhelpful to the edge of rudeness. Still, I would not... more

We stayed at the Trans Asia Hotel Colombo for a few days. Overall the service and facilities are excellent, especially the pool, room service and food. However, beware there are local holidays when they close down many of their facilities without warning tourists that these facilities will be closed on the days they have booked. I would suggest you ask... more

After a long flight this hotel was bliss, blackout curtains, very quiet and lovely huge beds. Only stayed for one night and didn't venture out of the hotel due to jet lag but found the hotel very classy and friendly. more

This really is a horrid property. Fair enough Colombo isnt Disneyland but this hotel is old and desperately in need of a major renovation. Rooms are drab, tired and very well used! I upgraded to a suite only to find a baby's dirty nappy lying under the coffee table ...cleaners clearly missed that but it was in full view! Apart... more

We had a great stay at Transasia for a week. We were greated with tasty fresh juices. The lobby and room was very nice, but we were most impressed by the warm hospitality of their staff. Everyone was excellent and so friendly! The food was great at ALL restraunts in the hotel and we ate at all of them. At... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the last night of a one week trip to Colombo. The lobby is very impressive and our room was very nice (a huge bed!!!). We stayed half board so ate in the buffet restaurant - dinner was quite good but breakfast was very disappointing (putrid coffee, hard, cold and inedible dosai etc). It... more
