Fabulous hotel. Couldn't fault it. Wonderful staff who couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Good position. Good restaurant and bar. Fantastic rooms (stayed in a twin): VERY large, well equipped, comfy beds, nice decor, good toiletries, the most extensive minibar I have seen in a long time, quiet, kept meticulously clean. Plus a free wine hour in the evening -... more

I just stayed at the Madera for two weeks in September and it was a pleasure. The rooms are a little tired but huge and comfortable. I stayed in one of the cardio rooms, which has a cross-trainer tucked away in the corner. The room was large enough that you barely noticed the machine! The Madera has a happy hour... more

We visited the Madera in August when we dropped our son off at school. We stayed a few extra days just to be local in case something came up but also to play tourist. I wanted something convenient to the Metro, walking distance to restaurants and stores and not far from campus, and selected the Madera based on reviews here.... more

This is my first night of a five night stay and it is the best. From the moment I walked in this afternoon I have felt nothing but warm hospitality, excellent customer servivce, and a flawless room. I have just sat for two hours on my balcony enjoying a bottle of wine and enjoying being outdoors watching the neighborhood from... more

My roommate and I booked the Madera for labor day weekend and loved it! This is my third stay at a Kimpton Hotel, but my first at the Madera. I chose this hotel because of its location, reputation for hospitality, and because it is pet friendly. We arrived and tried to find parking around the block, but didn't see anything.... more

Hello Calliopea, Thank you for staying with us over Labor Day Weekend. I am glad that the front desk was so helpful to you during your stay. Since we are pet friendly it is only fitting that your dog accompanied you on your journey. We try to do our best to make pets feel at home at the hotel. I...

Hotel Madera is more than just a hotel. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that your stay there is enjoyable. The hotel was always clean and welcoming, and the Firefly was a nice relaxing place for dinner. Located only a block or two from a metro, the location was perfect. There are plenty of restraunts to eat at... more

My wife and I, from Maryland, decided to celebrate our one year anniversary in DC. We ate the The Palm, near DuPont Circle, and decided to make it a more special evening by getting a hotel room at the Hotel Madera. This hotel is the closest we have come to a European hotel while still in the United States. Most... more

I recently stayed at this hotel mainly due to it's location to sites and friends who live nearby. I also based it on the reviews on this site, which were mostly positive. I booked a king deluxe room on an upper floor with a view. My room was at the back of the hotel on the 8th floor. I believe... more

I usually stay at the "normal" chains. As a matter of fact, I almost booked at the Holiday Inn-Capitol. But the reviews and descriptions of this hotel led me to take a chance. I played around with all the usual sites to find the best rate and ultimately went with the Kimpton site. Though I had asked for a room... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Madera. I was a little disappointed when I first walked into the lobby. I expected it to be small, but it also appeared somewhat shabby and worn (carpet & sofa). However, our room was spacious, clean, with nice decor that did not appear old or worn at all. The staff and service... more
