My cousin's wedding was at the Mandarin Oriental in mid August and he had reserved rooms at a special rate for his guests ($230 per night, which was the same rate you could have gotten on Mandarin's website for their least expensive room). I was debating whether or not to stay at the L'Enfante Plaza Hotel a few blocks away... more

My husband and I stayed at the Mandarin for business for 3 days. We did not pay for it, but I know that it was very pricey. I don't know that we would go out of our way to stay here again because it was very expensive. Having said that, it was incredibly nice. We were especially impressed with the... more

I booked the Mandarin Oriental because it was a reputable chain and I got a great rate online. After I did, I read the reviews here and wasn't sure what to expect. The staff was friendly, all requests were handled quickly, and the room was very clean. The only problem described in other reviews that I encountered was that one... more

I am currently staying at the Mandarin in DC for a wedding. I reserved adjoining rooms a few months ago. I specified that I wanted rooms that were connected by a door. I called three times to ensure the rooms were adjoining and to see if I could have early check in, I was told they would do their best.... more

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in DC from Friday July 25-July 29, 2008. It is a beautiful hotel and the staff was wonderful. Although, it’s geared more towards adults, and business travelers, we took our two children, 14 and 3. I felt a little out of place in our jeans and t-shirt lifestyle but they never made us feel... more

The Mandarin is a very nice hotel which is 1st class in every way. Service is second to none, attentive, and timely. The food I found exceptional for one dinner, and just so so for another - but always very pricy with an extremely limited menu. Others must agree since we were the ONLY party in the entire restaurant on... more

This hotel is outstanding. I went with my mother, my grandmother, and my aunt. Unfortunately, we only booked this hotel for two nights and I wished we could have stayed longer. Upon arriving at the Mandarin, we were greeted with kindness and consideration from the hotel staff. We arrived before check-in, so our room was not ready. Instead of making... more

This is the least impressive Mandarin Oriental I’ve stayed (San Fran, Hong Kong, Chiang Mai). Yes, the facility is 5-star, but it’s more like a utilitarian Marriott instead of a MO that’s known for its understated elegance. We stayed at the second highest category room, the Tai Pan Club Water View, during the Cherry Blossom Festival at the end of... more

oh my. this hotel, while gorgeous, was an absolute nightmare for us. it was clean and lovely, so that is the reason for the two stars--otherwise it would have garnered one. it was RIDICULOUSLY expensive in every respect. and it was absolutely horrible for kids. the staff truly seemed appalled that kids were invading their luxury hotel and did little... more

We exchanged some timeshare points for our six nights at the Mandarin Oriental for our family of four's vacation. We traveled with two adults and two children (pre-teens). We booked the "Tai Pan" level to be able to enjoy the services of the Tai Pan Club including breakfast in the mornings and soft-drinks throughout the day. We booked a City... more
