We had arrived in Chamonix with nothing booked. Tried a few hotels but weren't happy with the costs. We were walking around the town trying to find something within our budget and stumbled across Hotel Richemond. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would best describe this hotel as shabbily gentile. It looks as though it could do with... more

Charming family owned establishment with friendly staff. Beds a bit soft, walls a bit thin but all in all exceptional value for money. Big spacious room (book a twin, trust me), good breakfast (continental) and you couldn't ask for a better location. Outside the front door and you're pretty much slap in the town. Head out the back and you're... more

We stayed at Richemond 2 nights after Xmas 2007. The hotel is very well located right by the pedestrian are in Chamonix. The ladies at the reception were very nice and helpul. The room (corner room 58 on the 3rd floor) was very cold now in December. In fact, it was so cold that we asked and got a separate... more

I have visted this hotel for the past 7 years with groups. And it really has to be one of the most unique hotels in Europe. I love the atmosphere of the 'good old days', the charm and patience of the staff. The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the middle of the city. It has a beautiful... more

After reading all the reviews on here I really felt I had to add my tuppence worth... We stayed in the Richemond for 3 nights at the beginning of September. We were in Chamonix for some walking, playing in the chairlifts and the mountain air. It was too early in the year for winter sports and therefore I suspect that... more

This hotel is in an excellent location, nearly in the centre of Chamonix. From the outside you get the impression of a grand hotel from the 1930s and when you step inside it's pretty much like that. A large lobby with a couple of salons and a small check-in desk. The staff are very friendly and also very helpful. They... more

Perfect location in the heart of town an old "grand" Hotel elegantly set in its grounds. Family run this hotel deserves more than its official 2 star rating. The prices are so competitive it is well worth asking for the best rooms and paying that little extra. Parking available for guests . Friendly staff and owners . We shall definitely... more

Lots of original patina, friendly staff, all round a positive experience, although the maitre d' at breakfast was a bit testy when we told him where we would like to sit instead of sitting where he wanted us to sit. Thin walls, noisy pipes but the price was right and the location is right in the middle of town. Would... more

I have just come back from a weekend skiing in Chamonix. I have never written a review before but feel compelled to warn people about this hotel. Yes the hotel is in need of modernisation badly. Do not stay here if you expect to get more than 4 hours sleep a night. The thin walls enable you to hear everyone... more

Great value for money, excellent facilities; large, spacious rooms, if a little dated. However, the breakfasts are excellent; and for families at 130 euro per night including breakfast, is the best value in the alps. Don't expect a five star hotel, but the staff are helpful and there's free parking. We are going back this week! Also, the hotel is... more
