We stayed at the Clarendon for two nights in August 2008. We arrived mid-morning, after flying in from Sydney, and our room was available immediately which was marvellous. I had booked a Double Executive room, with a request for a quiet room as I am a light sleeper. We were allocated a lovely spacious room on the ground floor with... more

I stayed at the Clarendon while visiting my company's London office. I booked two nights as this was within walking distance to the office. My flight in was delayed and when I arrived I was tired and starving. The staff was not helpful when I requested suggestions for restaurants. I too was given a room on the bottom level and... more

We stayed here as part of a complimentary deal. As previous reviewers have said, the rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The double bed was king size and firm. But (and this is a general gripe about British beds generally) they do insist on putting matress liners in which stop moisture going onto the mattress - fair enough - but they... more

Although booked into the Buckingham – a sister hotel down the road – we found ourselves shunted to The Clarendon. We were allocated a room on ‘the lower ground floor’, i.e. in the basement. The room itself was acceptable: reasonably-sized, with en suite, and in good decorative order. However, its location gave it several ‘special’ features. First, the metal staircase... more

Stayed here with my girlfriend for 2 nights for a bank holiday weekend. On Arrival they upgraded our room which was a great start. Very nice interior, clean and good size rooms. Great location in London, we caught a show in the west end and it only took us 10/15 mins to walk there - oxford street similar distance away... more

Stayed here on the 29th of Dec. We were put in room 9 which we now realise was directly under reception. The room is small and basic. The bathroom is the similar in size to that of a public toilet. The hotel needs modernisation in the vast majorty of areas. If you do decide to stay here, avoid room 9... more

Wanted to redress the balance of some of the reviews on this hotel. 4 of us have just come back from a weekend staying here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rooms spotless and of importance the staff were excellent very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. We had a great... more

OK Hotel- looks nice from the outside, Reception decorated nicely. Rooms were reasonably clean, except from lots of hair in the bath-plug. The thing that REALLY let it down was the complete rudeness of the reception staff. Not one smile, not one enquiry about our stay, etc, very rude and obviously customers are nothing but a hindrance! I could not... more

Beware! Do not ask reception at this hotel to order a taxi for you as they will book one that is twice the price of a normal cab. I was charged £45 from the hotel to City airport and it should have cost £25-30. Likewise my colleagues who were staying in the hotel had similar experiences. Otherwise the hotel is... more
