We stayed at the Morning star resort August 17-23. We had a wonderful time, my husband and two kids 6 and almost 2. I will try to break it down for you. The room: very nice 32 inc flat screen tv, but not really there to watch tv. We stayed in room 5218 ,close to everything, only problem was the... more

Given the recent posts about this hotel (Marriott's FR)I thought I' d write my review even though we stayed there last March. We only stayed for one night prior to our check-in at the Cove next door. We had a recently renovated room which had a very slight view of the water. The room was nicely decorated and there was... more

Was a nice enough hotel to spend a short vacation. Just a few points: 1) There is absolutely no cellular (t-mobile) service if you stay on the beach side of the resort. Of course this is not a problem if you're on vacation, but if there for work, it can be a big issue. Ask to be located in the... more

Just got back from a week at the Morningstar portion of the Frenchman's Reef resort. I agonized over keeping the reservation after reading reviews on this site but decided to suck it up and trust that all would be okay anywhere in the Caribbean. Bottom line - St Thomas is not a great place to vacation and Frenchman's Reef is... more

This was the grossest, smelliest, most disgusting hotel EVER. I've stayed at many excellent Marriott hotels (e.g., Los Suenos) and this isn't even in the same league. I can't believe I paid over $250 a night to stay here. I don't recommend this hotel, in fact, I don't really recommend St. Thomas as a vacation destination at all. There are... more

We stayed for one night at the Morning Star after a week on St John. I used Marriott Rewards points to book the stay. We got to the Frenchman’s Reef from Red Hook and were notified that we were supposed to be at Morning Star. I don’t know if I missed anything, but I did not see anything on my... more

We just returned from our honeymoon at Frenchman's Reef last week. We had a good time only because we had each other. The hotel was very boring for a supposedly 5-star resort. There were no worthwhile activities and the ones planned didn't happen (beach volleyball). I expect a 5-star resort to have an activities director to keep you entertained if... more

I travel for business about 40% of the year and am a Marriott Rewards member and the Frenchmen's Reef is by FAR the worst Marriott that I have ever stayed at. I stayed there for 2 weeks in August when I was in St. Thomas for work. The hotel loses power almost daily, tv. goes out daily, the pools are... more

We stayed at the Marriott from August 9th to 14th, 2008. We had a reservation for a "resort view" room. When we finally were allowed in our room (4pm), we found that we had the room next to the elevator, and the window opened up to the roof drain lines. No view of anything. Not acceptable at all. The explanation... more

We were very disappointed in our stay at the Frenchman's reef. We were given a room in the sea cliff section, which appears to be the oldest section of the resort. The ceiling had stains, tiles on the floor had holes and it is just in dire need of updating. The first day there we complained to the front that... more
